Old habits die hard in the full Equalizer trailer

Seems like just yesterday that Sony released the first, action-packed trailer for  Denzel Washington 's new flick The Equalizer . Well, the studio has unleashed another look at this adaptation of the 1980s TV show , and it's really something else. Yup, there's less action on display here, but we get more of a feel for the story and the elements which, I am sure, have test audiences going gaga for this flick.

Denzel Washington puts foot to ass in The Equalizer

At least that's what the first trailer for the upcoming adaptation of the hit 80s TV series The Equalizer implies. I'm cool with that. At first glance, this doesn't look a lot like the Edward Woodward vehicle. Then again, Denzel isn't an older British gentleman. Nor is this the 80s. This is a  Hollywood action movie in 2014, and it look like the star and director Antoine Fuqua will deliver.

New pics, trailer for NBC's Constantine series

The long running Hellblazer comic book is all but ready to make the leap onto the small screen this fall in the new TV series Constantine, and the network's marketing arm is well and truly in full swing. This weekend a nifty three-minute trailer appeared, giving audiences an impressive look at the program. And earlier today a couple of new pics of star Matt Ryan surfaced, promising the actor will at the very least look exactly like the popular anti-hero .

Friday the 13th TV series on the way

Given the varied success of A&Es Bates Motel and NBC's Hannibal , I suppose it was only a matter of time before someone thought of bringing the story of Crystal Lake's least favourite citizen to the small screen . Turns out that someone is Friday the 13th creator Sean S. Cunningham and horror documentarian Dan Farrands, as a  TV series about the life and times of Jason Voorhees is indeed on the way.

Blast off with the Starship Rising poster and trailer

We've been pumped for the sci-fi/action flick Starship Rising for a while now. Why? Because it stars Basement fave Brooke Lewis, that's why! Well, thanks to the lovely Brooke, The Basement has scored the official trailer and poster for Alien Armageddon  director Neil Johnson's latest. And it looks like a lot of fun, if you ask me.

Agent Carter series likely for ABC

We last told you about Hayley Atwell 's uber sexy Agent Carter in July , when the Captain American heroine starred in her own original short film , which appeared on the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray . Having not seen the Agent Carter short, I can't speak to its quality, but I dig the character and the actress who plays her.

Sequel to The Equalizer in the works

Bet you didn't know the popular 80s TV series The Equalizer was being made into a movie. Well, you might have. I shouldn't make an assumption like that, because then I make an ass of you and numption. But The Equalizer will indeed hit the big screen this September, with Denzel Washington in the title role and his Training Day director Antoine Fuqua behind the camera. This alone gives me hope.

Pilot for CW's The Flash series features a familiar face

I gotta admit, I've never watched CW's The Arrow TV series, an adaptation of DC Comics' Green Arrow . Word is it's a pretty decent show, and has gone the Smallville route and introduced other characters from the DC universe. The Flash is the most recent hero to appear on The Arrow, with Grant Gustin bringing the Barry Allen incarnation to life. Apparently the CW network wants to turn Gustin's Flash into a TV series of his own and a pilot is in the works.

80s horror anthology Monsters heads to DVD

I never got to check out any of the 72 episodes that made up the hit syndicated show Monsters during its original run from 1988 to 1991. Nor have I caught the reruns on Syfy or Chiller , or our Space network for that matter. But Basementites will soon have the chance as the complete series is scheduled for release on DVD via Entertainment One on Feb. 25 with a retail price of about $100. No special features have been announced for the nine-disc set. Monsters was produced by the same company behind the popular Tales from the Darkside TV series , and featured such notable guests as John Saxon , Lili Taylor , Meat Loaf, and Adrienne Barbeau . The DVD box art is by way of Fangoria. Can't say it does much for me. November is Horror Hottie Month

Long-time listeners know Shawn and I are THAT guy when it comes to appreciating hot chicks . Happily married to a couple of hot chicks ourselves, we still know and appreciate beauty when we see it. When that beauty comes in the form of a hot chick who's into horror, well, all the better. Which is why November is Horror Hottie Month in The Basement, and we've lined up a talented twosome for your listening pleasure. First up is award-winning filmmaker Jenna Payne, creator of the Zompire Vixens and other quirky and campy genre fodder. Shawn spent about 20 minutes talking with Jenna, and it's a fun and funny interview Basementites will appreciate. You can hear it Nov. 15. Meanwhile, Jason sat down with Canadian-born scream queen Jessica Cameron and talked about her feature directorial debut Truth or Dare, the state of cinema and why horror is the best genre. Jessica is straight up and knows what scares you. Her thoughts hit Nov. 29. Toss in reviews of Standards o...

Jason and Shawn versus Deadfall and Extracted

Deadfall Jason: Deadfall was a tough movie to figure out. I had no idea where it was going the entire running time. Nor did I know if it was a crime movie, drama, love story, character study or bad to the ass action flick. In the end, it was all of these. But ultimately went nowhere, which is its one big flaw. Eric Bana was awesome. He was the baddest motherfucker around; a complete asshole. Director Stefan Ruzowitzky knows how to shoot a movie. The opening car crash and snowmobile chase at the midpoint are thrilling. There's lots to like in Deadfall, but not enough to make me want to watch it again. A Bad from me. Shawn: Eric Banana, you were able to do something Nicolas Cage will never be able to do. I hated you. I loathed a movie with "Eric Bana" in the credits. However, YOU redeemed yourself here. I really dug this movie, your performance, along with other veteran/exciting actors. I liked the story, although there were several incomplete side stories...

Zombieland TV series headed for Amazon.com

That's right peeps, we might not be getting a sequel to the rather brilliant Zombieland , we're going to get a TV series instead. But it won't be a network series, oh no. This mother is going the On Demand route. Seems Amazon .com is trying to compete with Eli Roth 's Netflix original series Hemlock Grove by jump starting the Zombieland project. No word yet on who's in it or when we'll see it, but each 30-minute episode will follow the adventures of a group of survivors who band together during the zombie apocalypse. Unless you've been living under a rock, the Zombieland movie starred Woody Harrelson , Jessie Eisenberg, Abigail Breslin and the lovely Emma Stone , all of whom are pictured above. The verdict is still out on whether Netflix or Amazon can sustain a series like this, but I say go for it. VOD is the wave of the future, and I'd love to see these sites produce good, original content until the cows come home. Source: iO9 Related...
