Echoes of Trista Robinson in The Basement

One of the pleasant surprises of the fall movie season has been the creepy supernatural flick Echoes of Fear, which Shawn and I reviewed just last week . If you have a chance, please seek it out as it makes the theatrical circuit. It's worth your time, and dollar. And one of the best parts of the movie is star Trista Robinson, who is well on her way to becoming the next big scream queen. Trista and I sat down today for a chat about Echoes of Fear, her role in it, and what it's like earning the scream-queen title. Trista knows her stuff, is super talented, and probably the nicest person we've ever talked to in our nine years in this business. We had a great conversation I think fans will enjoy. As always, you'll hear a portion of it when From The Basement storms the Radio NL 610 AM Morning News at 8:20 Friday morning. The full interview appears on our extended cut podcast later in the day. Stick with us!

The Jamie Bernadette interview, The Kid Who Would Be King, and Serenity

The Basement Boys are back with another extended cut podcast sure to pleasure your ear holes as they interview actor and scream queen Jamie Bernadette! Sure, you might have heard three minutes of the conversation earlier today on Jason and Shawn's Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show segment, but you get to hear the whole thing right here, right now.

The 6th Friend, Replicas, The Upside and A Dog's Way Home

Last weekend there was nothing, but this weekend there's three big releases and one film in limited release that every horror fan needs to check out. And Jason and Shawn are here to tell you all about 'em! For starters, scream queen Jamie Bernadette stars, co-wrote and produced the slasher movie The 6th Friend, and it's been granted a limited theatrical run today. How cool is that? Given the Basement Boys have seen it, and will put the flick on the chopping block, it could be very cool indeed. What'd they think? Stick with us!

The 6th Friend promises a fun horror ride

Sometimes the formula works, sometimes it doesn't. The makers of The Asylum's latest horror offering, The 6th Friend, are banking on a win with their ode to the kids-go-into-the-woods-kids-get-dead slasher genre. Produced, written and starring scream queen Jamie Bernadette, The 6th Friend has all the makings of a classic slasher movie. Kids go into the woods? Check. Masked killer shows up? Check. People start to die? Check.

Halloween Day By Day: Malevolence 3: Killer

In the world of movie making, there's a fine line between making an homage and crafting a ripoff. Malevolence 3: Killer walks this razor's edge in fine style. Mena, who continues a trilogy that began with Malevolence in 2003 and continued with a prequel, Bereavement, in 2010, is clearly a fan of John Carpenter. So much so he makes no attempt to hide it. In fact, he embraces it.

Get behind the Scream Queen Stream

We love them, those glorious goddesses of gore and hotness known as the scream queen. They are the final girl of our dreams. The survivors -- well, most of the time -- of ghastly terrors. I could go on, but you get the drift. Ever wonder what it takes to be a scream queen? Not on camera, but off? Or what a scream queen's day-to-day life is like? Well, now you can thanks to scream queens Jessica Cameron and Heather Dorff.

Jessica Cameron's Save Yourself teases a trailer

It's been months since we reported on scream queen Jessica Cameron's latest effort, Save Yourself. Like eight months, actually. But the horror hottie just sent a teaser trailer and some new stills from the flick our way -- right on time for Women in Horror Month. Save Yourself tells the story of five female filmmakers en route to their big L.A. premiere. But when one of them goes missing at a rest stop, the women soon find themselves pitted against a deranged scientist hell-bent on using them for his mysterious research.

Some new See No Evil 2 images

Under normal circumstances I wouldn't have a lick of interest in See No Evil 2, the sequel to a movie I barely remember watching. I know it was a generic slasher movie featuring a wrestler, but that's about it. However, the sequel is directed by Jen and Sylvia Soska, our favourite Twisted Twins, which makes it required viewing.

Jessica Cameron's Truth or Dare scores a gruesome Red Band trailer

Twenty seven awards and counting. That's how much acclaim scream queen Jessica Cameron 's directorial debut Truth or Dare has earned thus far. Twenty seven. Wow. We've been pimping the flick for a while now, and Jessica talked about her movie on our show earlier this season. Yet Truth or Dare isn't anywhere near done making the festival rounds and the marketing push continues.

First poster for Jessica Cameron's Save Yourself

I believe we've said this before, but scream queen Jessica Cameron is one busy lady. Her directorial debut , Truth or Dare, is still making the festival rounds, her follow-up effort Utero is in post production , and here she is already on board another project as star and producer. Talented, beautiful and driven. The girl has it going on. And she's got good taste in podcasts.

Brooke Lewis is the Killer Rack

Everyone loves boobs right? Well, most guys do, that's for true. But how about if those boobs were out to get you? That question, and many more I'm sure, will be answered in the upcoming horror/comedy Killer Rack. That's right, someone -- the creator of Slime City Massacre actually -- is making a movie about murderous boobs. And I'm gonna see how many times I can use the word boobs in this article about killer boobs.

Blood Widow, Axeman and the Joston Theney interview

Blood Widow? Axeman? Joston Theney? WTF? Relax, Basementites. You haven't been living under a rock. This episode is dedicated to a couple of under-the-radar slasher flicks and the man who directed one of them. Joston Theney directed Axeman, which hit the home market earlier this month. Blood Widow just appeared at Cannes and hits VOD , DVD , and Blu-ray June 3. Jason and Shawn have seen them both, and are ready to put the flicks on the chopping block.

Blast off with the Starship Rising poster and trailer

We've been pumped for the sci-fi/action flick Starship Rising for a while now. Why? Because it stars Basement fave Brooke Lewis, that's why! Well, thanks to the lovely Brooke, The Basement has scored the official trailer and poster for Alien Armageddon  director Neil Johnson's latest. And it looks like a lot of fun, if you ask me.

Production wraps on Utero starring Jessica Cameron

Seems like just yesterday we told Basementites filming had begun on scream queen Jessica Cameron's baby themed horror flick Utero. But an email arrived in The Basement this morning letting us know  principle photography on writer/director Bryan Coyne's flick is complete. The entire movie was shot in Los Angeles .

Scream queens galore line up for the Axeman

Horror fans will be able to see some of the genre's most prominent scream queens together in one razor-sharp slasher movie when Axeman hits Canadian and U.S. DVD/VOD markets in May. Tiffany Shepis , Brinke Stevens , Elissa Dowling and Jamie Bernadette are on board for Joston Theney's blood-stained love letter to old-school slashers.

Halloween Spooktacular 5: the Ernie Hudson interview with guest Brooke Lewis

There are many Halloween traditions . . . never take candy from a stranger, don't blow out a jack-o'-lantern before midnight, and The Basement's Halloween Spooktacular. And this Halloween Spooktacular is the mother of all Halloween Spooktaculars. Joining Jason and Shawn for the entire hour is none other than award winning scream queen Brooke Lewis! Brooke and the Basement Boys discuss all things horror, including the creepiest movie music/sounds that accompany the genre. Then, nothing says Halloween like ghosts. And nothing says ghosts like Ghostbusters. Which is why Jason and Shawn are proud to feature an exclusive interview with Ghostbuster Winston Zeddemore himself -- Ernie Hudson . Hudson talks about his classic role, working with Bill Murray and Dan Akroyd , and the possibility of a third Ghostbusters movie. But that's not all! The man chats his career, his friendship with the late Brandon Lee , and the state of the film industry. THIS is the one movie...

The Month of Horror Day 14: Prom Night

Basement contributor Matt Bellamy has taken it upon himself to watch and review at least one horror movie a day for the month of October . . . because he's awesome that way! For one brief second, we in The Basement feared the lame-ass remake would be featured. Then we remembered we're dealing with Matt Bellamy.   No, not the remake! I hope you didn't go ahead thinking that would be the case, if so, shame! The remake did not star the " Scream Queen " Jamie Lee Curtis , nor did it star Leslie Nielsen because it' s a piece of trash and relates to it in name only. I'm making it sound like the original is some sort of horror classic which I should say right off the bat that it isn't. It's not even a particular good movie within the " slasher genre" of horror but it's enjoyable for what it is, I guess, no more and no less. The late 70's and early 80...

Scream queen contest winner comes with Baggage

Y'all remember Jeremiah Kipp, he who won our Win A Chat with a Scream Queen contest back in Season Three and made the exceptional short flick Crestfallen? Well, he's back! I just had the pleasure of watching Jeremiah's latest short, Baggage -- a groovy 14-minute throwback to the tales found on Alfred Hitchcock Presents, only bloodier and a titch more disturbing. Rob Dimension plays Benjamin, a normal guy trying to live his life and fit into society. We get to spend one day with Benjamin, and witness how his simple existence unfolds with unsettling results. Dimension is great as Benjamin, and Jeremiah once again shows he's an accomplished filmmaker. Baggage is more of a straight-up genre piece than Crestfallen, and plays within the conventions of what we expect. It's expertly made. As with any good Hitchcock tale, nothing is quite as it seems. I figured out the twist right away, but was still pulled along for the ride. And yeah, the last shot got me. Got ...

Ms. Vampy wants you!

Not in that way you perverts . . . although a man can dream ;) No, Basementites, our favourite vampire web series hostess with the mostess has a new Internet show headed our way called Ms. Vampy's Bites, and she needs her fans' help to make it happen. An interactive advice show, Ms. Vampy, AKA Brooke Lewis, wants YOU to send life-advice questions her way so she can answer them on the show. All you gotta do is fire one off to Ms. Vampy's Bites at msvampybites@msvampy.net and include your full name, city and the state (or province) you're in. It's just that easy. What kind of credentials does Ms. Vampy have? She's a life coach to the stars for one. She's 110 years old -- just don't tell her we dropped her age -- and has accumulated some life experience along the way. Granted, she thinks True Blood is a reality TV show and wants to make out with Robert Pattinson , but nobody is perfect. Anyway, fire off them life-advice questions and we'...

Horror starlet Jessica Cameron unleashes Truth or Dare

You gotta love it when a gal turns out to be more than just a pretty face. Such is the case with Jessica Cameron. The Canadian scream queen has already appeared in more than a dozen features and has at least as many more lined up. Plus she's getting ready to unleash her directorial debut Truth or Dare. Jessica also stars in this tale of six college kids who find Internet stardom when they make Truth or Dare videos with a violent twist. Things take a dark turn when their No. 1 fan decides he wants to play too. We're in line to review Jessica's flick when post production wraps. Until then, Basementites can scope out the gruesome trailer below and keep tabs on the movie via its official website . If you want to learn more about the lovely lady, check her out on Twitter .   Source: Truth or Dare
