The 6th Friend promises a fun horror ride

Sometimes the formula works, sometimes it doesn't. The makers of The Asylum's latest horror offering, The 6th Friend, are banking on a win with their ode to the kids-go-into-the-woods-kids-get-dead slasher genre.

Produced, written and starring scream queen Jamie Bernadette, The 6th Friend has all the makings of a classic slasher movie. Kids go into the woods? Check. Masked killer shows up? Check. People start to die? Check.

The flick gets a limited theatrical release later this week, so The Asylum offered up a new poster reminiscent of Wes Craven's Scream flicks. And we've got a trailer to share as well. So let's get busy with it:

The Asylum can be hit and miss, but they sure do love their genre movies. We sure do love them for it. Here's hoping we get a look at The 6th Friend when it hits theatres Friday.
