Happy New Year... From The Basement!

2019 is almost a memory, and it was a good year for our show. This is the year Shawn and I realized our long-term goal of taking things prime time, which we did in early November on the mighty Radio NL 610 AM Kamloops, and there was much rejoicing. It was also a year where we interviewed some truly awesome people, including Jamie Bernadette, Darren Lynn Bousman, Trista Robinson, Jennifer N. Linch and Eric Red. We reviewed a lot of good movies, a few great ones, and a handful of duds. Such is the business. Our listenership continues to grow, and we couldn't be more thankful for that. We've been doing this a long time. When our podcast drops Saturday morning, it'll mark our 10th anniversary. That's a lifetime in Internet years, and we couldn't have done it without the support of each and every one of you. Big thanks to those we've met along the way, and remain friends and sometime collaborators to this day. We're talking about YOU John Fallon, Jon Cros...

The Proposal ready for feature film duty

We have much love for John Fallon and Marc Natoli's action short The Proposal here in The Basement. It did in 12 minutes what many action movies fail to do in two hours -- kicked our asses! The one question we were left with when the flick ended was "when do we get to see a feature-length version of this bad boy?" The answer is soon! Mason Stone: The Proposal is currently in development, with Natoli back as gun for hire Mason Stone and Ben Whimpey returning to the director's chair. John Fallon, who wrote the short, will co-write the feature. The Proposal has already proven a hit at festivals, winning Best Action Film in Philadelphia. Given Natoli's charisma and Fallon's sense of action, we're not surprised. A full-length film will do the same. We'll provide more on Mason Stone: The Proposal as it develops, and wish everyone involved much success.

New concept art surfaces for Eric Red's No Man's Ridge

It's been a while since we've been able to provide an update on writer/director Eric Red's upcoming Bigfoot flick No Man's Ridge, but we've got a doozy of one for you now. Production designer/co-producer John Gallagher has whipped up this mighty fine image of the titular Bigfoot in action, giving audiences a glimpse at what they can expect from this motion picture.

The Seth Breedlove Interview and Dolls

Get ready for a 25-minute journey into the realm of crypitds, ghosts and other Small Town Monsters as Jason and Shawn interview a documentary filmmaker with an interest in the unexplained: Seth Breedlove! Seth is a former newspaper reporter with a passion for all things Bigfoot, Mothman and other weird creatures. He's turned that passion into a profession, making almost a dozen films on the subject. The most recent are Terror in the Skies and On the Trail of... Bigfoot, and he talks with us about his work, what his thoughts are on the paranormal, and a whole lot more.

Marc Natoli boards John Fallon and James Thoo's Hurt

There just aren't enough good fight movies out there. I mean, there's lots of good movies with fighting in them, but when it comes to the subject of fight movies a la Rocky and Creed there's pretty much just the Rocky and Creed movies... off the top of my head at least, which says something. So we in The Basement are stoked to learn that rising action star Marc Natoli has signed on for James Thoo's fight script Hurt, which will be directed by long-time bro John Fallon. The film is in the early stages of development. Little is known about the script, other than the official word from Fallon's Bruise Productions is it's an authentic, passionate and poignant fight story. Sounds pretty good to us! We'll bring you more on this project as it moves through development. Source: Bruise Productions

Bigfoot comes to life in Eric Red's No Man's Ridge

We previously told you about Eric Red's upcoming Bigfoot flick No Man's Ridge in December . Believe me when I say to you things have been churning along ever since, as the flick moves through pre-production toward a shoot later this year. But Red, who wrote the classics The Hitcher and Near Dark, and directed the great Bad Moon and 100 Feet, has revealed an updated design for his Sasquatch, and it's a doozy!

The Marc Natoli interview, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, Cold Pursuit, The Prodigy and What Men Want

We Came from the Basement returns with an exclusive one-on-one interview with rising action star Marc Natoli! That's it. Thanks for tuning in... Just kidding!

Marc Natoli is The Prodigy in Cold Pursuit of The Lego Movie 2

There are four big movies coming out this weekend, and Jason, Shawn and Howie are going to tell you all about them. But first, the Terrible Trio have an exclusive interview they want to unleash on your ear holes, one featuring rising martial arts/action star Marc Natoli!

The Hitcher and Body Parts creator directs Bigfoot thriller No Man's Ridge

If you're a genre fan -- a TRUE genre fan -- then the name Eric Red means something to you. He wrote the genre classics The Hitcher, Blue Steel and Near Dark, and directed horror faves Body Parts, Bad Moon and 100 Feet. Now he's back with a new action/horror flick, one that tackles the most infamous monsters of all time: Bigfoot.

John Fallon, Marc Natoli and the Baby It's Cold Outside debacle

We Came from the Basement wouldn't be what it is today if it wasn't for repeat guest John Fallon. The actor/writer/director/producer/stuntman/Arrow in the Head founder was Jason and Shawn's first guest, and he's become a friend and frequent collaborator. Heck, he even helped come up with the show's title. Fallon updates audiences on his many projects, and he's brought actor/martial artist Marc Natoli with him to discuss their short film collaboration The Proposal, as well as update fans on his second directorial effort, Heretic, and the upcoming The Siege of Robin Hood.

Marc Natoli and John Fallon re-team for Heretic

We just interviewed filmmaking duo John Fallon and Marc Natoli this morning on our Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show segment, where they talked The Proposal and the upcoming Heretic and The Siege of Robin Hood. But it looks like the two collaborators aren't finished yet. Fallon announced via Twitter that Natoli has signed on to play Davies in Heretic, a medieval action/drama starring Paul Sloan and Mark Lawson. Fallon co-wrote the script and directs.

John Fallon and Marc Natoli have a Proposal for Radio NL

There are no major releases in theatres this weekend! That's right. There is nothing of note in cinemas for the next seven days, which means Ralph Breaks the Internet and Creed II are expected to keep cleaning house at the box office. Does that mean there's nothing for Jason and Howie to discuss on the Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show? Hardly.

The Proposal, First Man, Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween and Bad Times at the El Royale

Jason and Shawn are back and ready to throw down over an action-packed short film in this, the extended cut of Friday's segment on the Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show. What's the short film? It's called The Proposal, and comes by way of long-time friend and collaborator John Fallon, and rising martial arts star Marc Natoli. And it killed it this past week at the Sitges Film Festival in Spain.

Review: The Proposal (2018)

"Admit it: that was cool as fuck." Star Marc Natoli says that line about half way through the action short The Proposal, and there's no better way to sum the film up. Although just 10 or so minutes long, The Proposal is everything an action fan could ask for. In fact, the only complaint I've got is I wanted more!

Marc Natoli throws down in The Proposal clip

Taking a break from our Halloween Day By Day to share with you Basement Dwellers this first clip from the upcoming ode to 80s and 90s action flicks, The Proposal. Why now, you ask? Because it's Thanksgiving, and we're feeling thankful for your support these last eight years, and the support The Proposal's writer, John Fallon, and star, Marc Natoli, have shown us.

Action short The Proposal will kick ass at Sitges

That headline is accurate in so many ways. For one, The action short The Proposal (which we've written about here and here ) will indeed screen at the esteemed Sitges Film Fest next month, which is cool in its own right. But we also have it on good authority the film, which is an ode to 80s and 90s action cinema, is also a kick-ass movie, so we anticipate it will blow audiences through the back wall of theatre when the lights go down Oct. 10 at 4 p.m. in Catalonia, Spain.

Some behind-the-scenes pics from The Proposal

Cameras are officially rolling on the upcoming action short The Proposal, written and produced by our man John Fallon and starring actor/producer/martial artist Marc Natoli. In fact, the shoot is a couple of days and change old at this point, which means it's high time to share a few behind-the-scenes shots for your eye holes.

Action short The Proposal lands a poster

Back in the day, Shawn and I never strayed from reviewing a short film. When done right, they can tell a pitch-perfect story in pitch-perfect style, and pave the way for a beefed up feature film version down the road. When a short film comes from the keyboard of our man John Fallon, and promises a high-concept story with kick-ass fight scenes, we're definitely interested in taking it in.
