Get ready for The ExpendaBelles

Hot chicks . Action. What more needs to be said about an all-female action film starring some of the hottest action chicks of all time? The project was pitched when Sylvester Stallone 's The Expendables took off a few years back. Now The ExpendaBelles is ready to move forward as a director and plot synopsis hit the interwebs.

A few thoughts on Dario Argento

After thrashing Dracula last night and watching part of my soul die, I felt compelled to write something up about the Dario Argento I grew to love.

Suzanne Cappelletti versus Dario Argento's Dracula 3D

I don't even know where to begin here, so I'm just going to start. I am a huge Dario Argento fan. Suspiria is my favorite movie of all time. I have the ballerina tattooed on my arm! I'm very sad after watching this. This is a standard Count Dracula story done in the worst possible way. We all know the story and yet... they found ways to make it incoherent and ridiculous.

The U.S. trailer for Steve Coogan's Alan Partridge

My wife actually stumbled across this preview for the British comedy Alan Partridge , which is based on a popular British TV series starring comedian Steve Coogan . In Britain. The flick is ready to debut stateside on VOD Feb. 27, so Magnolia Pictures crafted this rather hilarious trailer to introduce the character to North American audience. In my opinion, having never watched the BBC series, it's pretty damn successful.

Wolf Creek 2 ready to terrorize Australian audiences

We haven't updated Basementites on Greg Mclean 's outback horror sequel Wolf Creek 2 for more than two years. Guess what!?! It's about to open in the land Down Under ! Roadshow Films unleashes the flick in Australia on Feb 20, with a North American release pending via Image Entertainment . The sequel brings back the great John Jarratt as serial killer Mick Taylor. My guess is he terrorizes some tourists in brutal ways.

A tease for 24: Live Another Day

God bless the Super Bowl and its awesome commercials. This is one that slipped under my radar, but fans of the long-running Keifer Sutherland series 24 -- and they are legion -- are probably all over this. The 12-episode event series 24: Live Another Day debuts May 5, and brings back action hero Jack Bauer , who battled terrorists for eight season on the Emmy winning series.

Some Super Bowl spots for your eye holes

Alright, the Super Bowl is over (Go Hawks), now it's time to catch the Big Game Spots for some of the year's most anticipated flicks. We've got Transformers: Age of Extinction, Captain America: The Winter Soldier , Need for Speed and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Personally, these spots sell me on almost all of the movies, even though I never saw the last Transformers nor The Amazing Spider-Man. Might have to rethink my thinking.

A sneak preview of William Kaufman's Daylight's End

There's three reasons why Basementites should get excited about Daylight's End. The action/horror flick is directed by William Kaufman and stars Johnny Strong . That's right, the duo that made Sinners and Saints, one of the best action movies of the last couple of decades. It also stars Lance Henriksen , who is reason enough to watch anything, in my biased opinion.

Shawn vs The Revenant

Well, with all the zombie and vampire movies being all the rage, The Revenant is a quietly hidden gem that makes the Top 10 end of my favorite out of both genres.  So, right off the bat, this is a Good. I'll tell you why. It's a comedy. But its a dark journey and it isn't corny funny. It's "holy fuck" uncomfortable funny. The story is a sort of mash up of both genres, but neither. A sort of "original," in a sea of over-cliched films, of the sort. But I won't go too deep, as that would take away the fun.

Jason versus Visiting Hours

I vaguely remember the TV ads for Visiting Hours when I was a 10-year-old boy, and was totally creeped out by them. Surprise! The movie is now on Netflix , so I finally got to face my fears. Is this 1982 slasher flick are scary as the commercials let on? Stick with me! A crazed, women-hating killer attacks journalist Deborah Ballin. When he discovers that his attack didn't kill Deborah, he comes to the hospital to finish what he started.
