With oodles of time on my hands, I thought I should catch up with some blockbusters that have long been on my radar. How does the latest entry in the long-running car franchise stack up? Stick with me.
Brian reassemble their crew in order to take down a
mastermind who commands an organization of mercenary drivers across 12
countries. Payment? Full pardons for them all.
I am enthralled with how this franchise has developed. Taking a street-racing/crime flick and turning it into a globe-trotting caper series was a ballsy move. Fortunately director Justin Lin, screenwriter Chris Morgan and the entire cast and crew are up to the challenge.
This movie is awesome! From the opening chase along an ocean highway to the final, almost unbelievable runway throw down, this is a fun and exciting ride. Props too for keeping the action practical, at least for the most part. My jaw dropped several times. And I laughed too. Fast & Furious 6 has a great sense of humour . . . especially if you're a guy.
Vin Diesel and Paul Walker own their roles. Will be weird seeing how they handle Fast 7 with Walker's demise. Dwayne Johnson is always the man, and is more of a Samoan Thor now than ever before. Watching Gina Carano and Michelle Rodriguez kick the tar our of each other is a joy. Pure sexy joy.
As for the final tease for Fast 7? Can't. Fucking. Wait.
These movies get better and better. They know what they are, and embrace it. A Good.
