The Night Sitter and four other movies

The Basement Boys are back at it again, with this latest extended cut podcast From The Basement! As always, you get this morning's segment from the mighty Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show with Howie Reimer, and a bunch of new crap Jason and Shawn spew specifically for your ear holes. What's the crap they're talking this week? They provide a feature review of the new indie horror The Night Sitter, starring the lovely Elyse Dufour! Does it offer an adequate amount of gore, chills and boobies? Stick with us! The Dynamic Duo also caught up with Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and are ready to provide a few thoughts on that, along with Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. Oh, and Shawn smoked a fatty (not really) and watched Mortal Engines. There's also a shout out to the Drunk in a Graveyard crew for their love of local metal and movies. Toss in a few thoughts and opinions on the latest entertainment news and you've got yourself a podcast... From The ...

New Hobbs & Shaw trailer a ludicrous joy

You gotta love a movie that embraces what it is. Hobbs & Shaw is clearly an over-the-top action movie that feels like a mashup between the Roger Moore era of James Bond films and Tango & Cash. And, judging from this trailer, it's clearly OK with that fact. We get crazy stunts, macho humour, a Black Superman, and Samoan warfare. All with tongue placed firmly in cheek. Either you're on board, or you're not. Check out the crazy ass trailer below and decide on your own.

Is Chris Hemsworth a registered Lethal Weapon?

It's been years since The Basement heard any talk of a  Lethal Weapon reboot. To be honest, we'd hoped the project was ded. D-E-D. As in dead. However, the latest rumour out of Hollywood suggests otherwise. Instead, it sounds like  Thor 's Chris Hemsworth has been offered the lead in what doesn't sound so much like a remake, but a half-assed continuation of the series.

Leigh Whannell will direct Insidious: Chapter 3

It's no secret  James Wan won't be back to direct the third film in the Insidious franchise. Let's face it, the man is balls deep in the new Fast and Furious movie . He's a bit preoccupied. Yet, given the financial success of the Insidious flicks, a third film was inevitable. In fact, it comes out next April.

Six seasons and a movie; is Community headed to the big screen?

That's the rumour as Dan Harmon 's brilliant, but under seen,  NBC comedy nears the end of its fifth season. Although ratings remain consistently low, Community is one of the few comedies on the network's lineup to stand the test of time. Insiders at NBC and Sony are optimistic that Community will be back for a 13-episode sixth and final season . But what then? Word is Community could be resurrected on the big screen with director Justin Lin at the helm.

Fast and Furious 7 resumes filming in April

There's no doubt that Fast and Furious fans are going to miss Paul Walker , but cameras are almost ready to roll again on the latest instalment in the blockbuster franchise. Word hit the Interwebs today that production resumes on Fast and Furious 7 in April, just five months after Walker died in a fiery car crash .

UPDATED: First Fast & Furious 7 teaser poster hits the web

Well, it seems like that cool poster below is fan made and was released via a fake Vin Diesel Twitter account. How do we know this? Because director James Wan said so via his Twitter account . And it's the real deal. He also acknowledges it's a pretty damn good poster! Our bad, and sorry if we got anyone too excited :) Here is the original post:

Jason versus Fast & Furious 6

With oodles of time on my hands, I thought I should catch up with some blockbusters that have long been on my radar. How does the latest entry in the long-running car franchise stack up? Stick with me. Hobbs has Dom and Brian reassemble their crew in order to take down a mastermind who commands an organization of mercenary drivers across 12 countries. Payment? Full pardons for them all. I am enthralled with how this franchise has developed. Taking a street-racing/crime flick and turning it into a globe-trotting caper series was a ballsy move. Fortunately director Justin Lin , screenwriter Chris Morgan and the entire cast and crew are up to the challenge. This movie is awesome! From the opening chase along an ocean highway to the final, almost unbelievable runway throw down, this is a fun and exciting ride. Props too for keeping the action practical, at least for the most part. My jaw dropped several times. And I laughed too. Fast & Furious 6 has a great sense of humour ...

Production on Fast and Furious 7 halted

Given the tragic death of Paul Walker , Universal Pictures has shut down production on Fast and Furious 7 indefinitely. Which isn't to say the film won't happen, but studio bigwigs need to figure out what to do next without one of the franchise's biggest stars. And, as a Universal press release stated earlier today, now is not the time to think business: “Right now, all of us at Universal are dedicated to providing support to Paul’s immediate family and our extended Fast & Furious family of cast, crew and filmmakers. At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on Fast & Furious 7 for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise. We are committed to keeping Fast & Furious fans informed, and we will provide further information to them when we have it. Until then, we know they join us in mourning the passing of our dear friend Paul Walker.” I can only hope they don't do s...

Vin Diesel floats two new Fast 7 images

Any studio that recruits Vin Diesel to star in a movie gets their money's worth. Not only does the guy have a solid fan base , but he self promotes the hell out of his projects . . . in a good way. Diesel, Paul Walker and company are well into production on the latest Fast and Furious , which is appropriately enough called Fast and Furious 7, or #Fast7 if you're hip. And today he posted a couple of new pics from the flick. Behold . Just in case you lived under a rock these last several months, Jason Statham is in this. So's Kurt Russell and Tony Jaa, for the record. And this is a pic of some people hugging. Tres cool, said no action fan ever. The Conjuring 's James Wan directs the latest installment in the more-popular-than-ever franchise, which hits theatres July 11. Kurt Russell IS in Fast and Furious 7

First Kurt Russell was on for Fast 7, then off, but according to the above pic ripped right from Vin Diesel 's Facebook page , Snake Plissken is filming scenes for the latest Fast and Furious movie as we speak. And there is much rejoicing. Why? For one, the Fast and Furious flicks have become quite awesome. Second, Kurt Russell is the man. And thirdly, he apparently plays a pretty bad guy opposite Jason Statham 's really bad guy in Fast and Furious 7 only to become even worse in Fast and Furious 8. I will pause and let you catch up. OK, the upcoming entry brings back Diesel and series regular Paul Walker and adds The Conjuring director James Wan behind the camera. No official word yet on the plot, but I'm sure we'll know more before the flick lands July 11, 2014.
