Latest Furious 7 poster teases big tires

Well, it does. And the action/sequel's stars. Only they're a hell of a lot smaller than those tires, at least in the poster below. But really, The Fast and The Furious movies are all about the cars, so why not give them some love? We know Vin Diesel and the late Paul Walker are in Furious 7, but we also know there's going to be a lot of cool cars in James Wan's flick.

Almost Human, American Muscle and Rachel Faulkner

The Basement is back for this, its sixth season of movie reviews, news and interviews designed to pleasure your ear holes. You'll enjoy it, trust us. First up is the sci-fi/horror flick Almost Human, writer/director Joe Begos' throwback to 80s terror. What's it about? Alien abduction, violent murders and a plot to take over the world. Is it as much fun as it sounds? Stick with us!

Fast and Furious 7 resumes filming in April

There's no doubt that Fast and Furious fans are going to miss Paul Walker , but cameras are almost ready to roll again on the latest instalment in the blockbuster franchise. Word hit the Interwebs today that production resumes on Fast and Furious 7 in April, just five months after Walker died in a fiery car crash .

District B13 remake Brick Mansions actually looks good!?!

Yeah, I said the District B13 remake Brick Mansions actually looks good. That's not saying the final product will be, but this trailer shows some potential. It doesn't hurt that District B13 star Davide Belle is in it, essentially playing the same character he played in the original. The late Paul Walker takes over for Cyril Raffaelli . Luc Besson is back as co-writer. And there's a lot of parkour .

UPDATED: First Fast & Furious 7 teaser poster hits the web

Well, it seems like that cool poster below is fan made and was released via a fake Vin Diesel Twitter account. How do we know this? Because director James Wan said so via his Twitter account . And it's the real deal. He also acknowledges it's a pretty damn good poster! Our bad, and sorry if we got anyone too excited :) Here is the original post:

Jason versus Fast & Furious 6

With oodles of time on my hands, I thought I should catch up with some blockbusters that have long been on my radar. How does the latest entry in the long-running car franchise stack up? Stick with me. Hobbs has Dom and Brian reassemble their crew in order to take down a mastermind who commands an organization of mercenary drivers across 12 countries. Payment? Full pardons for them all. I am enthralled with how this franchise has developed. Taking a street-racing/crime flick and turning it into a globe-trotting caper series was a ballsy move. Fortunately director Justin Lin , screenwriter Chris Morgan and the entire cast and crew are up to the challenge. This movie is awesome! From the opening chase along an ocean highway to the final, almost unbelievable runway throw down, this is a fun and exciting ride. Props too for keeping the action practical, at least for the most part. My jaw dropped several times. And I laughed too. Fast & Furious 6 has a great sense of humour ...

Production on Fast and Furious 7 halted

Given the tragic death of Paul Walker , Universal Pictures has shut down production on Fast and Furious 7 indefinitely. Which isn't to say the film won't happen, but studio bigwigs need to figure out what to do next without one of the franchise's biggest stars. And, as a Universal press release stated earlier today, now is not the time to think business: “Right now, all of us at Universal are dedicated to providing support to Paul’s immediate family and our extended Fast & Furious family of cast, crew and filmmakers. At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on Fast & Furious 7 for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise. We are committed to keeping Fast & Furious fans informed, and we will provide further information to them when we have it. Until then, we know they join us in mourning the passing of our dear friend Paul Walker.” I can only hope they don't do s...

R.I.P. Paul Walker

Actor Paul Walker , perhaps best know for his role in The Fast and the Furious movies , has died. He was 40 and leaves behind a 15-year-old daughter. Word has it he was a passenger in a friend's car when the vehicle crashed. His death was confirmed in a tweet by New Regency productions . He was attending a charity event for Reach Out Worldwide at the time. Walker was working on the latest Fast and Furious movie under director James Wan and had another film, Hours, slated for release this month. A statement by Universal: "All of us at Universal are heartbroken. Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the 'Fast and Furious' films, and to countless fans." While the Fast and Furious movies were Walker's gravy train, he also did stellar work in the flick Running Scared , a Basement favourite. No one likes to see someone's life end...

Vin Diesel floats two new Fast 7 images

Any studio that recruits Vin Diesel to star in a movie gets their money's worth. Not only does the guy have a solid fan base , but he self promotes the hell out of his projects . . . in a good way. Diesel, Paul Walker and company are well into production on the latest Fast and Furious , which is appropriately enough called Fast and Furious 7, or #Fast7 if you're hip. And today he posted a couple of new pics from the flick. Behold . Just in case you lived under a rock these last several months, Jason Statham is in this. So's Kurt Russell and Tony Jaa, for the record. And this is a pic of some people hugging. Tres cool, said no action fan ever. The Conjuring 's James Wan directs the latest installment in the more-popular-than-ever franchise, which hits theatres July 11. Kurt Russell IS in Fast and Furious 7

First Kurt Russell was on for Fast 7, then off, but according to the above pic ripped right from Vin Diesel 's Facebook page , Snake Plissken is filming scenes for the latest Fast and Furious movie as we speak. And there is much rejoicing. Why? For one, the Fast and Furious flicks have become quite awesome. Second, Kurt Russell is the man. And thirdly, he apparently plays a pretty bad guy opposite Jason Statham 's really bad guy in Fast and Furious 7 only to become even worse in Fast and Furious 8. I will pause and let you catch up. OK, the upcoming entry brings back Diesel and series regular Paul Walker and adds The Conjuring director James Wan behind the camera. No official word yet on the plot, but I'm sure we'll know more before the flick lands July 11, 2014. Jason Statham in Fast and Furious 6?

That's what the folks at Ain't It Cool News are reporting. Actually, The Stath is said to only appear at the end of Fast and Furious 6 and will be the lead villain in Fast and Furious 7. The fact that there is a Fast and Furious 6 AND 7 amazes me. Not that I don't dig the movies . I loved the first film and the fifth. The ones in between . . . meh. But I never thought this franchise would have these legs. But I digress. Jason Statham was originally set to play the villain in Fast and Furious 6, but that deal didn't work out. To read all about how Statham fits into the series alongside Vin Diesel , Paul Walker , and Dwayne Johnson follow this link , but be ready for major spoilers. In the meantime, what do you all think about The Stath appearing in a Fast and Furious movie? I'm down with it. The man deserves to be a bigger star than he is. Hopefully it can keep him out of the Direct-To-DVD market which, after a series of box office flops outside of The E...

An update from The Basement

We interrupt your Sunday afternoon for this important announcement -- boobs! Now that we have your attention, Shawn and I felt it was time for an update on some minor changes at play here in The Basement. Don't worry, loyal listeners, we're not quitting. Just trimming some fat, so to speak. As most of you know, we're not proceeding with Dark Fest for a variety of reasons. We've also been trying, these last few months, to break as many movie-related stories a day as possible. Why? Doing so generates hits, and hits mean more listeners. And greed is good , as Gordon Gekko likes to say. Well, not really. Although the effort has paid off, it's been easy to lose sight of why we started doing this in the first place. Shawn and I started The Basement because we like talking about movies and someone told us we should record what we say and put it on the Internet . Putting it on the Internet turned to putting it on the radio, then came a film festival and connectio...
