Even more From The Basement!

In what might be the most accurate headline in this site's 11-year history, fans of From The Basement are getting even more... From The Basement. At least if you're among those who prefer to tune in on the mighty Radio NL 610 AM Kamloops! Jason and Shawn have the good word from The Powers that Be at the mighty NL that Friday's episodes now repeat Sunday mornings AND Saturday nights. Saturdays at 7 P.M. Pacific, to be exact. Suffice to say, Chuck Norris approves! This gives everyone more opportunities to hear your weekly updates on what's worth watching, and what isn't, plus the entertainment rundowns for the week ahead, and those interviews y'all love so much. The podcast continues to drop on Monday mornings. What have The Basement Boys got for you this week? They interview cheerleader-turned-movie-star Grace Victoria Patterson, and review the latest flicks from Denzel Washington and Alison Brie.  The fun begins at 6:05 Friday night, and only on Radio NL . Stic...

The Basement repeats

What's cooler than hearing From The Basement on the radio? Getting to hear it on the radio twice! That's right, not only will new episodes of From The Basement broadcast just after the six o'clock news on Friday nights, but they'll repeat on Sunday mornings starting this week! Granted, the episodes have a 6 A.M. start time, so you'll have to be an early riser to catch it, if you didn't tune in on Friday night that is. But there's lots of people up and at them on Sunday mornings, so The Powers That Be are confident folks will tune in. What about the podcast, you ask? That medium that got us into the game to begin with? Never fear! The podcast version of Friday's show (and now Sunday's as well) drops on Monday morning as usual. A gentle reminder; Season 2 of From The Basement on Radio NL 610 AM Kamloops kicks off this Friday, at 6:05 in the P.M. Stick with us!

From The Basement podcast shuffles to Mondays

Just a slight update on the State of the Basement these days. No, we're not quitting AGAIN. And no, no one has died. And yes, we're still rocking it Friday nights at 6:05 Pacific on the mighty Radio NL 610 AM Kamloops. But we are making a slight shift in our podcast schedule, moving the release of the weekly podcast from Saturday mornings to Mondays beginning July 13 -- that's this upcoming Monday. No real reason for the move other than it frees up our Saturdays, and Monday is a busy day on the Internet. Yes, we're opportunists. Deal with it! This also means Mike S's The Book Nook articles will shift from Mondays to Tuesdays starting this upcoming week as well. He's cool with it, which makes him even cooler in our book. Thanks to everyone who's tuned in and supported us, and continues to do so. And cheers for voting us one of the best podcasts in Kamloops in this year's Best of Kamloops Awards. We appreciate the sentiment very much! Stick wit...

From The Basement returns to Radio NL next week

TGIF and all that! We in The Basement know weekends aren't the same these days. Hell, nothing is. But we're excited From The Basement returns to the mighty Radio NL 610 AM Kamloops next Friday with an all-new episode! Given the COVID-19 crisis, Shawn and I won't be doing the show from the NL studios, nor will we be able to pre-tape in the same room. But we're currently working things out so we can tape in advance via Skype. The show, as always, will go on! And we've got a good one lined up for you, as we're reviewing two new movies. We're taking on Alexandra Daddario's upcoming horror/comedy We Summon the Darkness, and the found-footage alien flick Case 347. Pretty cool stuff! So tune in NEXT FRIDAY 6:05 p.m.; only on Radio NL 610 AM Kamloops! Stick with us! PS: no idea who the dork with the glasses is...

Happy New Year... From The Basement!

2019 is almost a memory, and it was a good year for our show. This is the year Shawn and I realized our long-term goal of taking things prime time, which we did in early November on the mighty Radio NL 610 AM Kamloops, and there was much rejoicing. It was also a year where we interviewed some truly awesome people, including Jamie Bernadette, Darren Lynn Bousman, Trista Robinson, Jennifer N. Linch and Eric Red. We reviewed a lot of good movies, a few great ones, and a handful of duds. Such is the business. Our listenership continues to grow, and we couldn't be more thankful for that. We've been doing this a long time. When our podcast drops Saturday morning, it'll mark our 10th anniversary. That's a lifetime in Internet years, and we couldn't have done it without the support of each and every one of you. Big thanks to those we've met along the way, and remain friends and sometime collaborators to this day. We're talking about YOU John Fallon, Jon Cros...

It's the final Countdown to Black and Blue

Halloween is less than a week away, and true to the spirit of the season, there's one scary movie hitting theatres this weekend hoping to cash in on the holiday. And Jason and Howie are going to tell you all about it, plus a new crime thriller, when From The Basement hits the Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show at 7:20 this morning. The scary movie is called Countdown, and it's about an App that predicts when you die. Yes, there's an App for everything these days. Can Countdown deliver the seasonal goods? Stick with us! Not in the mood for something scary? Then there's the cop flick Black and Blue starring Naomie Harris. It looks quite good, and is racially charged. Maybe that's your thing? Throw in the rundown on what's worth watching at home and you've got yourself a segment! So tune in via the AM dial, or the player to your right. It's radio that's so awesome, you'll be awesomed out by its awesomeness.

The Eric Red interview, Hellboy, Missing Link and Little

Heads up, Basement Dwellers! You heard a portion of it on this morning's spot on the mighty Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show, but now it's time to hear the full 20-minute interview with writer/director Eric Red! That's right, the man behind such genre classics as The Hitcher, Near Dark, Blue Steel, Cohen and Tate, Body Parts and 100 Feet sat down with Jay to talk his career, and the upcoming Bigfoot epic No Man's Ridge ! You're not getting some three-minute taste here, this is the whole thing in all its glory, and it's an interview for the ages!

A death in the family

We in The Basement wanted to let our readers and listeners know regular episodes/articles will be on hold until after Nov. 11 so Jay can deal with a death in the family -- his mother passed away shortly before Halloween. The Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show segment will resume Nov 16, with the extended cut podcast debuting Nov 18. Mike S will resume posts in The Basement at some point next week, once he returns from holidays. Jay anticipates returning to his duties on a limited basis the following week.  Much thanks for your understanding and support during this time. We look forward to entertaining you for years to come. Stick with us!

Life Itself has a clock in its walls

A kids' horror movie directed by Eli Roth and an inspiring story about our place in the universe? So sums up this week's two big movie releases. Which means it's Friday, and time for Jason to join Howie Reimer on the Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show!

The Predator, A Simple Favor and White Boy Rick

The wait is over, The Basement has returned, and a new extended-cut episode is here to pleasure your ear holes! And while Shawn is down for the count, Mike S has joined Jay to not only provide wrap-around content for the Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show, but to review this weekend's big new release, The Predator.

Lions, tigers and Predators . . . oh my!

The word from the higher ups at Radio NL is they like us! They really, really, like us! So that means We Came from the Basement is back on the mighty NL Morning Show today at about 8:40 a.m.! An exclamation mark just because! Shawn is away, so Jason and Howie talk a whole slew of movie and entertainment news for your ear holes, including a few thoughts on Amazon Prime's Jack Ryan series and the upcoming season of Netflix and Marvel's Daredevil.

Will sequels never cease?

Friday morning rolls around once again -- yes, already -- and that can only mean one thing: it's time for The Basement to take to the Radio NL 610 AM airways once more. What do Jason, Shawn and Howie have in store this week? Well, some random chatter about movies and entertainment of course!

All you need is radio gaga

It's Friday, which means it's time for The Basement Boys to jump on the Radio NL 610 AM airwaves and talk some movies! And Jason and Shawn will do just that at 8:40 a.m., as they join Howie Reimer on the NL Morning Show.

The Basement extended cuts

It's been a great ride these last couple of weeks, as Shawn and I have found our feet at Radio NL 610 AM Kamloops and eased into the new format, as per the request of the Powers That Be at the station. However, it seems not everyone is pleased with the changes made at the behest of our new home, as some long-time fans have complained the segments are too short, and they don't like the fact we're talking alongside NL Morning Show hosts Howie and Shane.

Back in Black: The Basement returns today

It all begins anew at about 8:20 a.m.! That's when We Came from the Basement begins it's new season, on a brand new station: Radio NL 610AM! The Basement Boys kick off their eight to 10 minute segment at about 8:20 a.m., riffing on this week's new theatrical releases, plus sharing their thoughts on whatever passes through their movie-massacred minds.

The Basement returns to The X

Whoever said you can't go home again didn't know what he/she/it was talking about, because We Came from the Basement is doing just that. That's right, Jason and Shawn, along with their lovely co-host Amy, are bringing the show back to 92.5 FM CFBX Kamloops!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the CBC

Readers will have noticed we stepped up activity here on The Basement site, and that's because it truly feels like Shawn, Amy and I have hit our groove when it comes to what we want the latest incarnation of We Came from the Basement to be -- a fun hangout where we talk all things entertainment. And it's super awesome that our renewed energy has coincided with an exciting opportunity for Shawn and I to talk the year's most anticipated movie on our nation's national broadcaster.

The Basement and From Dusk Till Con

As long-time Basementites know, our fine program spent three and a half seasons on 92.5FM CFBX Kamloops , and they were good times indeed. Earlier this season we ventured out on our own, going Internet first off of this site to much success. For that, we thank each and every one of you who stuck with us. Now a new era is about to begin as The Basement becomes part of From Dusk Till Con's online radio network . What is From Dusk Till Con? It's a website dedicated to the horror genre and related conventions, most specifically Days of the Dead, a travelling horror convention with ties to Fangoria and Bloody Disgusting .

Times they are a changin'

The next six weeks will see a bit of a shake up in The Basement. Not a permanent one, but a change none-the-less. Actually, one change is permanent, and that's that we're now broadcast three times a week on 92.5FM CFBX Kamloops . AKA TheX.ca ! New episodes will continue to roll out Thursdays at 10 p.m. PST. Episodes will be repeated Fridays at 7 p.m. PST and Mondays at 9 a.m. PST. That's right, The Basement is in your ear holes three times a week, bitches! To accommodate the new schedule, we'll launch the podcast on Friday mornings. Yes, we moved to Sundays at the start of the year. We've changed our minds . . . again. Deal with it! Now for the short-term changes, I've been commissioned to write another screenplay (hence the pic at the top of the page. Get it!?!?) and have a short time to get it done. Instead of putting the show on hiatus, Shawn has opted to keep it going. And he's recruited Greg -- Game Time with Greg, Greg -- to be his co-...

A state of The Basement redress

A couple of days ago Shawn and I provided an update on our plans for this site and our show. As you can tell from an earlier post tonight , we already proved ourselves liars. Truth is, aside from saying we're in this for the love of the show, we're backtracking on what we said in that post. Truth is, a few turn of events during the last 24 hours got Shawn and I think deeper about what we do. We're still all about the radio show/podcast, but we feel we have something pretty special going on with this site and how we do the shit we do. Yes, we're focusing on quality over quantity, so posts won't be coming at you in crazy numbers. But we will post as often as we can without driving ourselves batshit crazy. And we're not doing this because we want to become rich. We're doing it because we believe in what we do, and so do a core group of fans. Also, we're not done with the mini-film fest either. All I can say to that is stick with us! So brace ...
