The Marc Natoli interview, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, Cold Pursuit, The Prodigy and What Men Want

We Came from the Basement returns with an exclusive one-on-one interview with rising action star Marc Natoli! That's it. Thanks for tuning in... Just kidding!

Marc Natoli is The Prodigy in Cold Pursuit of The Lego Movie 2

There are four big movies coming out this weekend, and Jason, Shawn and Howie are going to tell you all about them. But first, the Terrible Trio have an exclusive interview they want to unleash on your ear holes, one featuring rising martial arts/action star Marc Natoli!

Insomniac Theatre: "Krull" (1983)

You may be thinking, "HEY!  Didn't you already review this movie?  I'm outraged!"  You'd be partially right.  Not too long ago, Jay did a Drunken Review of " Krull ".  I had actually watched it back in December (those that follow me on Instagram will remember it), with the intention of reviewing it myself. So, yeah- it has been reviewed.  But I'm not the one that did it. So simmer the outrage to a light boil and read on, eh?

Fantastic Beasts create an Instant Family out of Widows

The wait is over, and so it begins again. It's time for Jason to return to the Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show with the weekend rundown of what to watch in theatres, and at home. Joining him, as always, is Howie Reimer, and together they cover what is a pretty diverse list of films hitting cinemas today.

Who's Cooler: Samuel L. Jackson or Liam Neeson?

New contributor Cameron Sullivan introduces himself to The Basement with a feature column comparing the great talents of Samuel L. Jackson and Liam Neeson. But who does he think is cooler? Stick with us!

Behold the Taken 3 . . . I mean Tak3n trailer

Every other movie site on the planet has posted about this, but that's never stopped us before. So we're proud to bring you the official trailer for Tak3n, which I still think is a stupid title for a movie. Just call it Taken 3. Please. That being said, I think the trailer looks damn good. A hell of a lot better than I expected. And the two minutes are certainly more interesting than the entire running time of Taken 2, which was not called Tak2n.

Taken 3 . . . I mean Tak3n opens in January

I don't know how excited I can get for a third Taken movie. The first flick owned big time but the sequel left me pretty cold. The concept doesn't lend itself to a franchise, but that's never stopped filmdom before. Why should it now? Today the international poster for Taken 3 . . . I mean Tak3n . . . debuted on Collider and it looks like a movie poster. There's not much more I can say then that.

Suzanne Cappelletti versus the Dirty Harry franchise

Over the past few weeks I've taken a trip thru one of my  favourite  non-horror franchises: Dirty Harry . From Dirty Harry in 1971, Magnum Force in 1973, The Enforcer in 1976, Sudden Impact in 1983 and The Dead Pool in 1988.  What can I say, 70's era Clint Eastwood is a sight to behold. I have a hard time watching him in anything recent. I grew up watching these movies with my Dad, who never got my love of horror. But we watched the bloody gunfights, fist fights and some wicked car chases together. I'll accept that.

Red-band trailer for A Million Ways to Die in the West will freak you out

Why? Because it's fucking funny, that's why. That's right, I swore in the first line of this post. Wanna fight about it? Pussy.

Liam Neeson and Maggie Grace return for Taken 3

I'm gonna toss this into the Enough Already pile, but given the success of Taken 2 ($376 million worldwide) it should come as no surprise that screenwriters Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen have more Taken movies in the cannon. A third flick has been greenlit .

Scream Factory unveils Darkman Blu-ray specs

Not ashamed to admit it, there was a time when Sam Raimi 's Darkman was my all-time favourite movie. While that is no longer the case, I still have a lot of mad love for his quirky and violent comic-book style movie. So I am beyond pumped to see Scream Factory giving the Liam Neeson action vehicle a proper Blu-ray release Feb. 18. And I will be adding this to my collection, mark my words. Check out what's on it: Interviews with Liam Neeson and Frances McDormand MY NAME IS DURANT – interview with Larry Drake THE FACE OF REVENGE – interview with Makeup Designer Tony Gardner HENCHMAN TALES – Interviews with actors Danny Hicks and Dan Bell DARK DESIGN – interview with Production Designer Randy Ser and Art Director Philip Dagort Audio Commentary with director of photography Bill Pope Vintage “Making of” and interview Featurettes featuring interviews with Sam Raimi, Liam Neeson, Frances McDormand and more… Vintage full-length interv...

Non-Stop trailer offers Liam Neeson, airborne thrills

Which, when you think about it, is all one really needs from a Liam Neeson action movie set on an airplane. Anything less would be recalculous. Director Juame Collet-Serra's thriller features Neeson as an air marshal who must spring into action when passengers are threatened on an international flight. Judging from the preview, there's a lot a red herrings and text messaging going on as well. Non-Stop looks like the kind of movie that could be good or it could be ass. Either way, Neeson is always dependable even if the movies he's in -- I'm talking about YOU Unknown and Taken 2 -- are not. This will be a rental or cheap matinee for sure. Non-Stop hits theatres Feb. 28. Source: The Verge Related articles Forget the Snakes. Jason versus Taken 2

Taken was one of the best action movies of the last decade; a tight, taut and slick thriller with rough and tumble violence and an intense performance by Liam Neeson . It made a tank load of bank, so a sequel was inevitable. But how does the follow up rate? Stick with me. In Istanbul , retired CIA operative Bryan Mills and his wife are taken hostage by the father of a kidnapper Mills killed while rescuing his daughter. First off, this is a direct continuation of the first film, not a cheap rehash. So props to screenwriters Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen for that. And it's great to see Neeson 's Brian Mills back in action. He's a good character, a true bad ass, and worthy of his own series of movies. Too bad Taken 2 isn't all that interesting. Sure, there's some nifty fights and a great, and I mean great, car chase through Istanbul, but this sequel doesn't have that much more to offer. Wait, Maggie Grace in a bikini. OK, now there's nothing m...

Girl's Eye View: Taken 2

Allow me to quickly introduce myself: My name is Kara, and I live over at www.karaschatter.com . I have no experience in the movie industry , other than watching and appreciating them. I thought I would offer up my movie reviewing skills, or lack thereof, to The Basement to give readers a female perspective on movies, new, old, good, and bad.  By no means did I intend for the title of this post to rhyme. But it does. Moving on …   When I originally found out that there was going to be a sequel to Liam Neeson ’s Taken , I was pretty excited. After all, the original was pretty epic. (Haven’t seen it? Shame on you!) There’s nothing better than an angry, ex- CIA operative going all out in a quest to find his daughter, who’s been taken by crazy Albanian human traffickers . So, after seeing the chaos and mayhem Neeson’s character caused in the original, the sequel should be just as good or even better, right? WRONG. I watche d Taken 2 just a couple days after i...

First image of Liam Neeson in Non-Stop appears online

And Jebus bless the clever bastards at Entertainment Weekly for it. I have to point them out because their logo is stamped across the picture above. But hey, credit goes where credit is due. Non-Stop re-teams Neeson with his Unknown director Jaume Collet-Serra in the story of air marshal who begins receiving text messages threatening to kill a passenger on an international flight every 20 minutes until $150 million is transferred into a secret account. Sounds like a pretty nice high-concept action film to me. Usually, unless there's snakes or Bruce Willis involved, it's pretty hard to make a movie that takes place on an airplane exciting. But, with Neeson on board, I'll give it a watch. Non-Stop is scheduled for release later this year. Joel Silver produces.

Exclusive YouTube Taken 2 trailer best yet

Before Chuck Norris goes to sleep he checks under his bed for Liam Neeson. I've bitched before about how 20th Century Fox has buggered the marketing for its sequel to the smash hit Taken. But, with this new trailer released exclusively to YouTube, they got it right -- in my biased opinion of course. I'm not going to spoil it for you, just watch and enjoy. And remember: in Istanbul, retired CIA operative Bryan Mills and his wife are taken hostage by the father of a kidnapper Mills killed while rescuing his daughter. Much kicking of ass ensues. Taken 2 opens Oct. 5.

Shawn and Battleship. Who sinks Who

You sunk my battleship!  This movie, is only "loosely" based on the actual game, Battleship.  And by loosely, I mean, someone was likely inspired by the design graphics on a battleship game box.  Which always tantalizes a person.  Then you break out the game. Same old game.  That's cool. Look folks, I'm a simple guy.  I like shit that blows up.  I like a good mind-erasing movie.  Throw in alien invasion and really good eye candy....sold. I'm not going to sit here and rip the script, actors, characters or stuff.  This movie wasn't designed with Academy Awards in mind. Even though Liam Neeson was in it.  It wasn't designed to be complex, in fact, where there were cliché moments, it was likely on purpose. Yes, the ending brings a lot of Hollywood cheese.  Whoopty doo.  I've seen far worse cheese, get called award winning. This movie was a long one too.  2 hrs 11 minutes or so.  It seemed to be able to carry me ...

Liam Neeson kills everyone in this domestic Taken 2 trailer

Little more than a month ago we showed you the international trailer for the sequel to Taken, a film everyone on the planet but Matt Bellamy liked. Now we've got the North American trailer for Taken 2, and it's not much different. Sure, there's more action over classical music and a hint that Maggie Grace plays a bigger role than the victim this time around. What it doesn't show is Neeson gets taken too, and has to fight for his life while Grace comes to his aid. I really hope this is good. The trailer is decent, but doesn't totally sell me. I know I will see it, but 20th Century Fox really needs to sell this movie in light of the negative impact the tragedy in Aurora has had on the movie-theatre experience. Taken 2 opens Oct. 5

The wait is over: the Taken 2 trailer is here!

Can I get a fuck yeah!?! Good! Nicely done. After months of speculation, scant photos and a few plot details here and there, we finally have a look at the sequel to a movie everyone but Matt Bellamy liked -- Taken. And Taken 2 looks bad ass!! The plot? In Istanbul, retired CIA operative Bryan Mills and his wife are taken hostage by the father of a kidnapper Mills killed while rescuing his daughter. The result? Neeson beating the living hell out of everyone who pisses him off. That's all I need! But enough of me blathering on, watch this mother and enjoy! Taken 2 opens Oct. 5.

Jason reviews The Grey

More than just an adventure film, Joe Carnahan's The Grey is a study on the bond between men, life, and the things that are most important to us. Great, I took a surprisingly thrilling man-versus-nature story and made it sound boring. Well done, Jay! After their plane crashes in Alaska, six oil workers are led to survival by a skilled huntsman, but a pack of merciless wolves haunts their every step. Fortunately for the men, they have current reigning bad ass Liam Neeson as said huntsman, and he knows a thing or two about wolves. I didn't dig The Grey as much as I thought I would. It's decent, don't get me wrong, with some seriously intense sequences. The wolf attacks play like Jaws on land, with one freaky and violent encounter after another. There's also one particularly exciting attempt to escape off the side of a cliff that had my heart in my throat.  Too bad the stuff in between gets stale before the movie plays out. I like drama and philosophy,...
