Lazy Daisy vs the Ninja in first Kung Fu Ghost clip

We in The Basement eagerly await Jennifer Linch's feature directorial debut Kung Fu Ghost for a number of reasons. 1) Jennifer is a super awesome and talented gal, 2) Kung Fu Ghost is a supernatural martial arts fantasy comedy, and the world needs more of those, and 3) see one and two. We've scored our first look at the film via Jennifer's Nameless Studios, and if the whole movie is as fun as these few minutes, we're in for a good time. Also, Jennifer knows how to fight!! We never doubted her abilities, but this quick scene is a fine display of her fist, feet, and blade skills.  We had Jennifer on the show in  late 2019 , and again  last year , to discuss Kung Fu Ghost. No word yet on a release date, but we'll keep you posted. Kung Fu Ghost is about Daisy (Jennifer) who inherits a spooky old estate in America from her grandfather (David S. Dawson), a martial arts master she's never met. She arrives in the U.S. and is shown the property. She soon discovers the ho...

New clip for Realm of Shadows starring Tony Todd

Everyone know's Tony Todd is The Man. I mean, he played Candyman for crying out loud! So we in The Basement get a little bit excited when we hear he's got a new movie coming out. Realm of Shadows is currently filming in Denver, Colorado, but the fine folks at ThunderKnight Entertainment saw fit to release this exclusive clip from the movie. What's it about? Realm of Shadows is a horror anthology that weaves a series of tales around Todd's Catholic priest, and his efforts to save a man from the clutches of Satan. This clip is from the story Meet Michael, which is about a family coming to terms with paranormal influences in their home. Check it: Realm of Shadows also stars Lauren Mayhew, Jimmy Drain and Vida Ghaffari. Drain co-wrote the screenplay with Robert Beiber, and co-directs with Brian McCulley. No word yet on a release date for this one, but we'll keep you posted. Source: ThunderKnight Entertainment

First clip from Clayne Crawford's The Killing of Two Lovers appears online

I became a Clayne Crawford fan in 2016 when I saw the movie Spectral, and caught the TV adaptation of Lethal Weapon, within a week of each other. I found him to be a talented and committed actor. There's no way a Lethal Weapon TV series should've worked, but it did -- largely due to his turn as Riggs. The fact the series died a rapid death after this departure backs up my previous sentence. Crawford has a new movie set to debut at Sundance Film Festival tomorrow called The Killing of Two Lovers. A clip appeared online today, and we've got it for you. Check it out: What's it about? David Desperately tries to keep his family of six together during a separation from his wife. They both agree to see other people, but David struggles to grapple with his wife's new relationship. I'm pretty excited for this one, and look forward to seeing it ASAP. We'll keep you posted on the film now that it's about to hit screens. Source: Clayne Crawford

Things look grim in first clip from Underwater

Ah, January. Traditionally it's a dumping ground for movies Hollywood doesn't know what to do with, or doesn't expect to make much money from. This year, however, there are a few promising releases heading our way, including Bad Boys For Life and Underwater. Underwater is very much a cross between The Abyss and Alien, which I'm A-OK with. It's directed by William Eubank and has a decent cast, including Vincent Cassel, TJ Miller and Kristen Stewart. And it look like things get pretty hairy for a crew of underwater researchers, as this clip attests to. Check it out: Underwater submerges in theatres Jan. 10, 2020. What do you think? Worth checking out? Source: 20th Century Fox

It's bath time in this The Grudge reboot clip

Just because we think it's time Hollywood needs to focus on telling new, and interesting, stories doesn't mean Hollywood is listening. A reboot of The Grudge is two weeks away, and the marketing machine is in full swing. I'm not sure if there's any demand for another Grudge movie. Although fans of the Asian original, and the 2004 remake, I know we're not excited for it here in The Basement, no matter how competently put together it looks. Below is a clip from the film, featuring the talented John Cho. All the elements that made the Sarah Michelle Geller flick decent are on display here -- and this one takes place in the same universe as that one -- but I still can't get into it. Maybe you can, so watch: This Grudge is written and directed by Nicolas Pesce, and is once again produced by Sam Raimi. Cho is joined by Andrea Riseborough and Betty Gilpin. The film hits theatres Jan. 3. Source: Sony

Escape the creature in these three Crypsis clips

A camping trip goes horribly wrong in the upcoming creature-feature Crypsis from Uncork'd Entertainment. And the world gets to witness it just in time for the holiday season. Can't wait? That's OK, as we've scored three -- count 'em three -- clips from writer/director Paul Anthony Rogers' unnerving flick. Why? Because three time's the charm, that's why. Predator Cave Run! A group of friends make a bet to survive the night on an island. Unbeknownst to them, a mysterious creature begins hunting them. What began as an innocent bet quickly turns into a fight for survival. Rogers co-stars alongside Michael Armata, Anthony Hoang, Jordan Mitchell-Love and Eddie Nason. Crypsis hits DVD and On Demand Dec. 17. Source: Uncork'd Entertainment

"They fly now" in first Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker clip

There's less than a month to go until Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theatres, and the Disney marketing machine is in full swing. I was hesitant to post this clip, which came out earlier today. Like many, I want to go into this thing as cold as possible. Then I said "what the hell" and watched it anyway. And now I post it here for those of you who also have a Devil-may-care attitude. Enjoy! The Rise of Skywalker hits theatres Dec. 20, and J.J. Abrams and company have promised to conclude the entire Skywalker saga with this one. Then we get a three-year break before any more stand-alone films surface. Oh, and this ninth entry in the series clocks in at two hours and 35 minutes, so go pee before it starts. Just FYI. Source: Star Wars

New Terminator: Dark Fate clip reveals a fiery chase

Arnold sure loves his choppers. I think almost every movie he's in -- at least every big, explosive movie -- features helicopters in some regard. I get it. I've been in them. They're pretty cool. You know what else is pretty cool? This clip from Terminator: Dark Fate. I've been hot and cold on the flick. Some of it looks awesome, other parts not so much. But this clip, which features a helicopter chase involving Gabriel Luna's new, indestructible Terminator, is definitely on the cool side of things. Check it out: I'm stoked to see Linda Hamilton back in action, and this one clip gives Arnold Schwarzenegger more to do than all of Terminator: Genisys. Early word is this new Terminator is the best since T2, or the third best Terminator movie. That's actually a compliment when you come to think of it. What say you? You gonna check it out on Friday. Buried treasure flick Low Tide gets a clip

A24 has secured themselves as the go-to place for high-quality genre cinema. The Witch, Hereditary, Ex Machina. The list goes on. The upcoming Low Tide looks to continue that trend, with writer/director Kevin McMullin exploring the dark side of The Goonies. The film details how the discovery of a bag of gold coins impacts a group of friends. Note, the group of friends already rob rich people's homes in order to fund their summer fun. I'm sure things go downhill for the gang pretty quickly. Here's a clip: Low Tide stars Daniel Zolghadri, Kristine Froseth and Mike Hodge. It's available right now on DirecTV, and in select theatres Oct 4. Source: A24

New Blood Bound clip makes a dark promise

Did you know that Thanos has a daughter, and she stars in movies? A new horror flick called Blood Bound to be exact. Well, Josh Brolin has a daughter, and she's one of the leads in Blood Bound, which is described as Rosemary's Baby meets Drag Me to Hell. That conjures up quite an image when you stop to think about it.
