Werewolf tale The Lycanthropist gets a teaser poster

We've said this before, but Shawn and I feel very fortunate to have met some super cool people during our five years on the Interwebs. Some of them we're even thrilled to include among our circle of friends. Blu de Golyer is one of them. Blu's name probably sounds familiar to regular Basementites. That's because he's the creative mind behind House of Good and Evil and Hillbilly Horror Show. Now the screenwriter has another project on the go -- one that involves werewolves .

Wanna see The Shadow of Death?

A couple of seasons back, Shawn and I put Gav Chuckie Steel's directorial debut The Shadow of Death on the chopping block and enjoyed the hell out of it. Regrettably, it's a tough film to find, so few on our side of the world (Gav is from the U.K.) have seen it. That's about to change as The League of Extraordinary Podcasts hosts a live watchalong with Gav on the group's Facebook page. All you gotta do is ask to join the group and you can take part in the watchalong.

Scream queen contest winner comes with Baggage

Y'all remember Jeremiah Kipp, he who won our Win A Chat with a Scream Queen contest back in Season Three and made the exceptional short flick Crestfallen? Well, he's back! I just had the pleasure of watching Jeremiah's latest short, Baggage -- a groovy 14-minute throwback to the tales found on Alfred Hitchcock Presents, only bloodier and a titch more disturbing. Rob Dimension plays Benjamin, a normal guy trying to live his life and fit into society. We get to spend one day with Benjamin, and witness how his simple existence unfolds with unsettling results. Dimension is great as Benjamin, and Jeremiah once again shows he's an accomplished filmmaker. Baggage is more of a straight-up genre piece than Crestfallen, and plays within the conventions of what we expect. It's expertly made. As with any good Hitchcock tale, nothing is quite as it seems.
