Take a boo at The Witcher Netflix series

My wife is a big fan of The Witcher video games, and I'm pretty sure she has a crush on Geralt, the main character upon which the games are based. The games are inspired by a series of Danish novels that are huge over in Europe. Like Game of Thrones huge. Netflix is looking to cash in on their success, and fill the void left by that other fantasy series, with a show of their own.

John Wick Chapter 3 - Parabellum and A Dog's Journey

People keep asking us if we're back... yeah, I'm thinking we're back... Back for another extended cut podcast hot on the heels of the mighty Radio NL Morning Show that is! In addition to talking the awesomeness that will surely be John Wick Chapter 3 - Parabellum, which The Basement Boys cover off during the NL segment, they provide a list of what they think the Big Summer Movies will be. Kind of them, no?

Has Star Trek 4 been shelved?

Bad news for our resident Trekkers Shawn and Mike S as word hit the Interwebs today that the next instalment in Star Trek's big-screen franchise might not happen after all. Word came via the folks at Collider that contract negotiations for Chris Pine, who plays James T. Kirk, and Chris Hemsworth, who was to return in the untitled fourth film as Kirk's back-from-the-dead dad, have stalled.

Mermaid's Song trailer sings a creepy tune

Some days, I'm not even sure what I'm trying to say when I write these headlines . . . Anywho, I guarantee there will not be one singing crab in director Nicholas Humphries spin on The Little Mermaid, which in turn was based on Hans Christian Anderson's classic mermaid tale. In fact, we in The Basement are pretty sure this is going more for horror romp than Disney musical.

Knights of Badassdom, Zero Charisma and Back to Frank Black

The nerd black hole is a place Jason and Shawn have visited several times during The Basement's storied history. It's a place where things become so nerdy, even the coolest people can be nerded out by how nerdy it is. Such is the case with the movies on the chopping block this week. Both involve the world of dungeons, dragons, dice and rubber-foam swords. That's right, these movies are all about role-playing, and not the kind with hot chicks and kink.

Blast off with the Starship Rising poster and trailer

We've been pumped for the sci-fi/action flick Starship Rising for a while now. Why? Because it stars Basement fave Brooke Lewis, that's why! Well, thanks to the lovely Brooke, The Basement has scored the official trailer and poster for Alien Armageddon  director Neil Johnson's latest. And it looks like a lot of fun, if you ask me.

The Basement and From Dusk Till Con

As long-time Basementites know, our fine program spent three and a half seasons on 92.5FM CFBX Kamloops , and they were good times indeed. Earlier this season we ventured out on our own, going Internet first off of this site to much success. For that, we thank each and every one of you who stuck with us. Now a new era is about to begin as The Basement becomes part of From Dusk Till Con's online radio network . What is From Dusk Till Con? It's a website dedicated to the horror genre and related conventions, most specifically Days of the Dead, a travelling horror convention with ties to Fangoria and Bloody Disgusting .

A first look at NBC's Constantine

We told you about the upcoming NBC TV adaptation of the popular Hellblazer comic  last fall . Well, the pilot for the series is shooting right now, and a first look at John Constantine himself has hit the Internet. Constantine is played by Matt Ryan and, as you'll see, he is very accurate to the comic-book character.
