Black Widow hits Disney + in July

In a move that should surprise no one, word dropped today the long-delayed release of Black Widow due to COVID-19 has officially come to an end. Scarlett Johansson's film will hit theatres AND Disney + on July 9. Marvel Studio's mastermind Kevin Feige spent months denying this would happen, but the lingering pandemic means there's still much uncertainty as to when cinemas will return to normal. In the meantime, studios like Warner Bros. and Universal have had much success with simultaneous home and theatre releases. So attitudes at Marvel have obviously changed. It'll cost $30 to rent Black Widow, which is basically the price of two movie tickets. I'm more than willing to pay that. Shawn and I have said time and again this is where movies are heading. Those who want to have the theatre experience can go, while the rest of us enjoy at home on opening day. What say you? You down with seeing Black Widow at home? Source: Coming Soon

Into the MCU: "Avengers: Endgame" (2019)

Here it is: the climax of our journey into the MCU.  The movie that 11 years of movies had been leading up to... " Avengers: Endgame "! Thanos has won.  The Avengers have been defeated, and half the universe has been wiped from existance. But wait... the random reappearance of Ant-Man offers a glimmer of hope.  Can the Avengers reverse the damage, and ultimately save the Universe from the Mad Titan? " Avengers: Endgame " is, in my opinion much more tightly written than " Avengers: Infinity War " in my opinion.  This is helped by having a pretty clear format for telling the sub-plots.  The start of the movie sets up the mood and setting of the "post-snap" world, and how the Avengers have been dealing with such a devastating loss before introducing the main plotline.  A nicely balanced story giving all of the remaining characters a chance to shine and have their moment. I was especially pleased by the growth they allowed Black Widow by g...

Black Widow trailer promises an MCU espionage extravaganza

If audiences truly want a strong female lead, they need look no further than Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow. The character has been kicking ass with the best of them in Marvel Comics since the 60s, and she came fully into the public consciousness with Iron Man 2 back in 2010. Although she met a heroic end in Avengers: Endgame, there's still lots to explore from the character's past, and that's exactly what the upcoming Black Widow movie is going to do. Yes, it's a prequel, and it looks pretty damn awesome. Check out the trailer now: I am so sold on this! Some complain the MCU movies have a formula, but it's that formula that is appealing to fans. They're all similar enough to deliver the goods, but different enough to remain engaging. Cinema or not, they work. And I'm looking forward to seeing this one come May 1. Who wants to bet Black Widow makes more in its first showing than the entire run of the Charlie's Angels reboot? Source...

The Proposal, First Man, Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween and Bad Times at the El Royale

Jason and Shawn are back and ready to throw down over an action-packed short film in this, the extended cut of Friday's segment on the Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show. What's the short film? It's called The Proposal, and comes by way of long-time friend and collaborator John Fallon, and rising martial arts star Marc Natoli. And it killed it this past week at the Sitges Film Festival in Spain.

Shawn versus Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Shawn here, reporting in, sir. Last weekend our "free movie tickets" expired.  We had to use them up. Wasn't much playing at our local theater, that we could all go see as a family, that wouldn't cause someone to fall asleep or eat all the popcorn during the previews. So, we settled on Capt'n America. I didn't enjoy the first Cap very much, so I wasn't looking forward to this. But I did enjoy The Avengers . Here's the thing.  If the movie, derived from a comic book , doesn't give me eye candy, I'll read the comic.  The first Captain America fell short there and was too long in the story, in my opinion.. What they did in the second one, was similar to how stories are laid out, in cartoon series' of The Avengers or Justice League...for example.
