The B. Harrison Smith interview and The Tokoloshe

'Twas a great show last night on the mighty Radio NL 610 AM Kamloops, but not everyone got to tune in, and some want to tune in again. Which is where the magic of the Internet comes into play... Submitted for the approval of Basement Dwellers everywhere, here's the podcast version of the latest broadcast... From The Basement! And to make it worth your while, Jason and Shawn present the full interview with filmmaker B. Harrison Smith. That's right, you only got about five to six minutes last night. But here are the more than 10 minutes Jason and Harrison talked about his upcoming film The Special, the state of the film industry, and why horror remains such an important genre. It's a gooder, as we say in Canada, eh. But that's not all, as Jason and Shawn review the upcoming South African horror film The Tokoloshe, which is about a malicious trickster who preys on children. The film hits Dec. 3. Is it worth your time and dollar? Stick with us! And stick aroun...

A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood crosses 21 Bridges to be Frozen II

The Holiday Movie Season is upon us, and that means there's a bunch of big movies headed our way between now and the end of the year. But there's also some flicks floating in under the radar, and that's where Jason and Shawn and From The Basement come in. And they're coming at yah at 6:05 p.m. only on Radio NL 610 AM Kamloops! What have The Basement Boys got lined up for you this eve? Well, they're interviewing director B. Harrison Smith about his upcoming film The Special. If his name is familiar to long-time fans, it's because Harrison appeared on the show back in 2012 as writer of the horror film 6 Degrees of Hell starring Corey Feldman. The boys also have a new movie to put on the chopping block, and it's the South African genre picture The Tokoloshe, which is about a mythical creature that preys on children. The film is touted as one of the scariest of 2019. Truth? Stick with us! And don't you dare touch that dial, as Jason and Shawn bring...

B. Harrison Smith returns to The Basement

Seven years ago we dedicated an entire month to the movie 6 Degrees of Hell, an ahead-of-its-time haunted attraction flick starring Corey Feldman. We interviewed the entire cast, the director and the film's writer, B. Harrison Smith. We consider ourselves lucky to have befriended Harrison. Not only is he a talented filmmaker, and decent guy, but he opened the door to other interviews, which is something Shawn and I always appreciate. Harrison has gone on to direct such genre films as Zombie Killers, Camp Dread and Death House, and work with the likes of Kane Hodder, Tony Todd, and Eric Roberts. And he's got a new flick coming out called The Special, which we highlighted right here . It's best described as Fatal Attraction meets The Blob. If that doesn't sell you on the movie, I don't know what will. Shawn and I figured it was time to bring Harrison back on the show, and talk his career, the horror genre, and the state of the world in general. I had a great c...

The Blob meets Fatal Attraction in B. Harrison Smith's The Special

How does one mix The Blob and Fatal Attraction? Well, leave it to B. Harrison Smith to figure out a way. We first met the writer/director during our Month from Hell in 2012, when we interviewed him and the cast o 6 Degrees of Hell, which Harrison wrote. He's the man who lined up our interviews with Corey Feldman, and later Eric Roberts, who starred in Harrison's Camp Dread. Now Harrison is ready to unleash his latest effort, The Special. And yes, it does look like some effed up -- and we say that lovingly -- mix of The Blob and Fatal Attraction. It's definitely a dark tale of sexual obsession. This has us intrigued. Take a look for yourselves: See what I mean? The Blob meets Fatal Attraction. The Special stars Davy Raphaely, Dave Sheridan and Sarah French. Harrison directs from a script by Mark Steensland and James Newman. No word yet on when we'll see The Special, but we in The Basement will keep our eye holes peeled! Source: Devilworks
