This is a surprising bit of good news for fans of Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim, a flick much loved by geeks that didn't go over big with the North American moviegoing public.
There's going to be a sequel, bitches!
Yup, Pacific Rim made just $101 million in North American, but the robots-versus-monsters flick did $309 million everywhere else, which is pretty good coin when the numbers are combined. Good enough to earn the sequel an April 7, 2017 release date.
Del Toro reveals the details in the below video courtesy of Legendary Pictures, so we'll let him tell you about the future of the Pacific Rim franchise:
There you have it. I liked Pacific Rim quite a bit. It's a good Friday night watch, no more or less. Bring on another one!
