Michael Dougherty 's Trick 'r Treat is hands down one of the best Halloween -themed horror flicks of all time. Hell, it's even one of the best horror anthologies to ever hit the big screen . Scary, funny, awesome. So we in The Basement are pumped Dougherty is ready to make another holiday themed horror movie . This time the man has set his twisted sites on Christmas , and he's tapping into the German legend of  Krampus to make it so.

This is a surprising bit of good news for fans of Guillermo del Toro 's Pacific Rim , a flick much loved by geeks that didn't go over big with the North American moviegoing public. There's going to be a sequel, bitches!

Director Gareth Edwards must be the happiest nerd in the world right now. Not only is his Godzilla stomping the tar out of the movie box office , but he's signed on for three more potentially huge projects. News broke today that Edwards will direct not one, but two Godzilla sequels . This should come as no surprise given the new movie is on track to be one of the biggest hits of the year. And, in my opinion, the best flick of 2014 thus far. No word on when the sequels will hit.

Before we get into this, and I'll be brief, let's be honest: no one expected Gareth Edwards ' spin on Godzilla to be rated R. Nor was a movie about giant monsters stomping the living shit out of everything going to be rated G. This is as big a summer movie as big summer movies get. Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures need to make a tonne of dough on it. So it was made with that in mind.

If everything you've seen and heard about the new Godzilla movie doesn't make you jones for it in the best possible way, then I weep for you. Actually, I don't, because real men don't weep. But it really is too bad.

If there was ever any doubt that Monsters director Gareth Edwards couldn't deliver the goods with his new Godzilla movie it should be erased with this first teaser trailer from Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures . Granted, the movie could still suck, but everything on display here suggests otherwise. From the level of destruction to the corpse of at least one big, bad opponent, this screams everything that I want a Godzilla movie to be. Even the narration is nothing short of pure awesome. But don't take my word for it, go and watch it now! That's a bit of sad news for us fans of the absolutely brilliant horror anthology Trick 'r Treat, but it's from the mouth of Legendary Pictures president Thomas Tull himself, so there you go. Tull invited selected members of the media to a Hollywood press conference today (thanks for not inviting us, asshole) where a number of big projects were discussed, including a Warcraft movie, the latest from Michael Mann and something interesting about special ops guys fighting ghosts. But what really caught our interest was mention of Trick 'r Treat 2 , which horror fans have been demanding since the original masterpiece was poorly mishandled by Warner Bros. and dumped on DVD . That's right. I thought the big, green guy would never see the light of day on a silver screen again, but a new Godzilla movie is filming right now. NOW! I'm excited. Not only is production underway, but the Legendary Pictures flick is shooting in Vancouver -- just down the road from Basement Headquarters. Woot! Road trip, me thinks! Who's in it? Aaron Taylor-Johnson ,  Elizabeth Olsen , David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston and legendary Japanese movie star Ken Watanabe . Cool.
