It's a Hellions of a contest

Everyone in The Basement -- and out, we don't exclude here -- who wants to make a short horror film and have it shown everywhere, raise your hand. That many? I thought so.

Then give this video a watch, mofos:

Pretty rad, yes! Not a question. A Statement.

The makers of the upcoming horror flick Hellions want a scary video up to two minutes in length. The theme: Red. You know, like blood red. Or red headed stepchild red. The video can be a fake trailer, a scene from a horror script you've been working on, a short flick all its own. It's just gotta connect to Red.

Peeps have until Feb. 28 to submit the film. Now here's the best part, the winning entry will be shown on a television in a scene from director Bruce McDonald's feature film Hellions and the filmmaker invited to the premiere!

The winning short also has the potential to be shown theatrically, in its entirety, along with Hellions, and to be included as a special feature on the DVD/Blu-ray release of Hellions. This is your chance to be seen and talked about.

A final round of judges will pick the winner from an audience favourites shortlist. Judges include McDonald, who also made Pontypool and Hard Core Logo, Rue Morgue founder and publisher Rodrigo Gudino, and Jason Eisener, director of Hobo with a Shotgun and segments on V/H/S 2 and The ABCs of Death.

Wanna know more? Then head on over to www.HellionsMovie.com for details about the contest and how to enter.

Hellions stars Chloe Rose as a pregnant teen who must fight for her life when three malevolent trick or treaters come knocking on Halloween night. You can keep up with the movie on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Sounds like fun, Basementites. Go for it!
