To celebrate this, our favorite month of the year, "We Came From the Basement" and " The Corner of Terror " are teaming up to bring you 31 days of horror goodness.

It's the last weekend of September, meaning October is just days away, and that can only mean one thing -- Halloween is just around the corner! While Universal and Blumhouse's Halloween sequel/reboot is still a few weeks off, Lionsgate and CBS Films gets a running start at the spooky holiday with the slasher flick Hell Fest this weekend. And Jason and Howie are ready to talk about it and the weekend's other big releases today at 8:40 a.m. on the Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show!

The night before Halloween can be just as dark and mischievous as All Hallows Eve, only with a less supernatural slant. It's not known as Devil's Night or Mischief Night for nothin'. Pranks, vandalism, you name it. It goes down on Mischief Night. For reasons unknown, horror filmmakers haven't taken advantage of the lesser-known holiday . . . until now. Thank you, director Richard Schenkman! And Specticast, Ruthless Pictures and GMI Films, who are ready to release his slasher flick on the night in question -- Oct. 30. Last October, Basement contributor Matt Bellamy sat down and watched 31 horror movies -- a horror movie a day -- to celebrate Halloween. And we presented his thoughts on each for you here on the site. Because Bellamy is awesome, he's agreed to come back and do it all over again, watching and reviewing 31 new films from Oct. 1 until All Hallows Eve. There will be no repeats from last year -- it's a whole new batch of fright flicks. Bellamy is working on his last as we speak, promising to touch on the Child's Play and Paranormal Activity movies and maybe even a selection from the Nightmare on Elm Street series. In an era when most people don't venture out of their homes to watch movies, it's nice to be reminded of the communal experience of seeing a movie in a crowded theatre. I've become one of those people who rarely hits up the local cinema anymore, mostly because of the crowds. The current movie-going public doesn't respect the "process" of watching a movie. They talk, text and tweet their way through the film, almost like the film itself is an afterthought. But when a movie works and the audience is engaged, catching a flick in a theatre can be a transcending experience. And few genres work a crowd like the horror genre.
