First look at xXx: The Return of Xander Cage

No, this isn't a trailer for the upcoming threequel to Vin Diesel's 2002 action hit. But it is a set pic from the first day of shooting, which apparently was not all that long ago as Diesel posted the aforementioned shot to his Facebook page on the weekend. I heard a sequel featuring Diesel was in the works, but had no idea filming was underway until this morning. That's pretty under the radar for what I'm sure is intended to be one of the bigger movies of next year.

Horror Hottie Month: Ghost Team One, Standards of Living and the Jenna Payne interview

Horror. Hotties. All month long. That's the promise Jason and Shawn made, and they shall fulfill it during the next two episodes of Film Reviews from the Basement . First up is an exclusive interview with award-winning filmmaker Jenna Payne, who is building to an indie-film coup with a line of projects as diverse as they are familiar. How diverse yet familiar? Two words: zompire vixens. You're welcome. Shawn sat down with Jenna for about 15 minutes to discuss her budding career and what it takes to make it in Hollywood. The end result is a fun and candid interview no Basement fan wants to miss. And how about them movies on the chopping block? Check it, the Basement Boys are into a horror comedy double bill featuring horny ghost hunters and bad comedians. That'...

New Bounty Killer trailer keeps the killing alive

I've heard really good buzz about Bounty Killer out of the Fantasia International Film Festival this year, especially from our boys over at Arrow in the Head, so this has become an instant must see in The Basement's books. Why? Post apocalyptic wasteland, rampant violence, hot chicks kicking ass and Gary Busey, that's why! This low-budget flick -- directed by Henry Saine and starring Matthew Marsden, Kristanna Loken and Christian Pitre -- hits VOD on Sept. 6 and DVD Oct. 29, just in time for Season Five. As for the long and short of the plot, read below: It’s been 20 years since the corporations took over the world’s governments. Their thirst for power and profits led to the corporate wars, a fierce global battle that laid waste to society as we know it. Born from the ash, the Council of Nine rose as a new law and order for this dark age. To avenge the corporations’ reckless destruction, the Council issues death warrants for all white collar cri minals. The...

Horror flick Crawl Bitch Crawl gets a trailer, picked up by VMI Worldwide

It's been a long time since we heard anything about the claustrophobic horror flick Crawl Bitch Crawl. A couple of years easy, and that was through one of the film's stars -- and Basement Twitter follower -- Torey Byrne. Word landed in our email box today that writer/director Oklahoma Ward's feature has been picked up by VMI Worldwide and will hit theatres some time this year. A trailer was also released. Wanna see it? Then push play mofos! An elite security team assigned the task of protecting the last known woman who can become pregnant, find themselves caught in an endless claustrophobic underground tunnel system. The team soon learns the real horror is not the unstoppable force chasing them, but the ever growing smaller tunnel itself. Sounds great, looks promising, and you know we'll get our Bitch on when this bad boy and its hot ladies comes our way. In the meantime, follow the flick on Facebook or Twitter and check out the official website . So...

Seventeen pics from A Good Day to Die Hard

That's right, 17 new images from the upcoming R-RATED action fivequel A Good Day to Die Hard. With Arnold Schwarzenegger back in The Last Stand this weekend, Sylvester Stallone's Bullet to the Head due later this month, and The Bruce's latest Die Hard out Feb. 14, this truly is the Year of Action. Thanks to Jon Cross for coining that phrase. Below are said images, featuring Bruce Willis, co-star Jai Courtney as his son, and hot Russian chick Yuliya Snigir showing more of what's underneath that leather motorcycle outfit. John McClane travels to Russia to help out his seemingly wayward son, Jack, only to discover that Jack is a CIA operative working to prevent a nuclear-weapons heist, causing the father and son to team up against underworld forces. And now the pictures: Thanks to The Lebanese Cinema Movie Guide for digging up these images.

The Countdown Continues with Night of the Comet

The countdown to the Mayan Calendar's end continues with Night Of The Comet. Stargazing a comet can kill. Not many survive this celestial event that doesn't actually crash into earth. It does leave some effects. Most of the population dies in a haze of red dust. Some survivors are zombie-ish. True survivors escaped the radiation by being in some sort of metallic container as the comet passed. One survivor,  Catherine Mary Stewart , is as beautiful today as she was in the 80's and then some. That said, her and her "valley girl" friend ( Kelli Maroney) battle the evils to survive, in a sparsely populated earth. There is a few twists and turns which make this movie a fun and halfway intelligent ride. I could survive the end with these two hotties. haha. This was my first ever end of the world movie. Dig it, suckas. Good.
