Grave Encounters 2 gets a typically creepy trailer

With less than a month to go before being unleashed on VOD and theatres, it's about damn time we got a look at the sequel to the most buzzed about horror movie of 2011. That's right, Grave Encounters 2 hits on Oct. 2. The original is a favourite in The Basement, delivering one shorts shitting moment after another. It looks like the sequel is going to try and one up the original in every way, which is no mean feat. While researching the events of the original film and the subsequent disappearance of its lead, Sean Rogerson, film student Alex Wright receives a bizarre video from a mysterious blogger named DeathAwaits666 that shows Rogerson alive and trapped inside the Collingwood Psychiatric Hospital from Grave Encounters. Alex and his friends agree to meet the blogger at the infamous hospital in hopes of learning what really happened and quickly find themselves face-to-face with unspeakable evil. Realizing that they must be smarter and faster than Rogerson and his...

Grave Encounters 2 goes meta

Shawn and I loved the shit out of  The Vicious Brothers' Grave Encounters. Unfortunately, our audio thoughts were lost when The X's equipment ate that particular episode, so all you can do is read our praises right here . Bad X! The Vicious Brothers have penned a sequel, which follows a group of teens who break into the abandoned hospital from the first movie only to learn that Grave Encounters wasn't just a film . . . it was real! Like I said in the headline, meta! I like this idea very much. The only bad news is the brothers aren't directing the follow up. Some guy named named John Poloquin is. But, as long as the sequel lives up to the shorts shitting entertainment of the original, I'm down with it. A big part of any film's success is the script. We'll keep you posted on Grave Encounters 2 as it develops.

Jason and Shawn review: Grave Encounters and Julia's Eyes

Grave Encounters Jason: A personal experience similar to what transpires in this movie might make me connect with it more but regardless, this is creepy, creepy stuff. Even when things go off the rails and into the realm of the impossible, it's still believable. No monsters. No demons. Just stuff one would possibly encounter in a haunted place. This kept the movie grounded and, ultimately, scary. Nothing here is overdone. It's all slow burn. It works for the most part. Maybe things take a little too long to get going, but the payoff is there. I own this movie. I've watched it twice. I will see it again. A Good! Shawn: This movie looks FAR too familiar for both Jay and I.  This is another case where our idea got made into a real movie. Except we did this. Did. It. Along with a psychic, skeptic and camera dude. There is the mother of all jump scares here. I don't usually like jump scares, but this one works, probably because the rest of the movie is scary too. What ...
