Review: The Tent

So, The Tent. How do I go about describing The Tent, the new apocalyptic horror movie from writer/director Kyle Couch? Or should I say "apocalyptic horror movie," as that's how it's presented but, by movie's end, we discover we've been sold a bill of goods, and The Tent isn't an apocalyptic horror movie at all. To spoil the film, or to not spoil the film? This is my struggle. Fuck it. The Tent is an apocalyptic horror movie for most of its running time, with subtle hints along the way to its true nature. And, during the film's final act, we learn it's actually a movie about a man coming to terms with the fact he has Alzheimer's. You read that right. This is a movie about a guy dying with Alzheimer's. So the monsters aren't really monsters, and the apocalypse isn't actually the apocalypse. For whatever reason -- likely the lure of making a buck -- Couch and company decided to dress their Hallmark Alzheimer's drama up as...

The Worst Movie Ever, Ip Man 4: The Finale and Fear City

The best thing about Monday morning, other than the arrival of the latest episode of our paranormal series We Want to Believe, is here! It's time for the podcast version of the latest broadcast... From The Basement! This one is chalk full of viewing goodness, not the least of which is a warning to movie watchers everywhere: Jason and Shawn have seen the worst flick in the 10-year history of the show, which is really saying something given all the garbage they've sat through. The movie is called The Tent, and to say more would spoil the fun of finding out why this movie sucks so bad. Do you dare find out? Just how awful is The Tent and why? Stick with us! And stick around as The Basement Boys provide reviews of Ip 4 Man: The Finale, and the Netflix documentary series Fear City. They also catch up with the new-to-streaming flicks The Gentleman and Slender Man. Plus Jason rewatched the first horror movie he ever saw. Does it still scare the pant off him? Push play on the...

Worst. Movie. Ever?

Jason and Shawn have a treat for listeners when they take to the Radio NL 610 AM airwaves at 6:05 tonight. Or should we say "treat?" That might be more accurate. The Basement Boys are reviewing what could possibly be the worst movie they've ever watched in From The Basement's 10 year history, a title previously held by Alien 3000, which is a pretty crappy movie to be sure. What is this bit of fromage? Well, we don't want to give too much away. Suffice to say the title rhymes with bent, and mostly takes place in a dwelling used for camping. And it's supposed to be about monsters and the end of the world. But that's not all! Jason and Shawn have a slew of other movie reviews to help you navigate this ongoing pandemic, plus provide a rundown on new TV and streaming options for your eye holes. And there's the latest on the Twin Rivers Drive-In. The fun begins right after the six o'clock news, so tune in... and stick with us!
