Reload with The Expendables 3 trailer

Not a teaser . Not a teaser for a teaser. This is the real deal. A full-on trailer for The Expendables 3 and let me tell you it's . . . . Well, let's let you watch it first and we'll continue from there. Me English read good.

Jason's Top 10 of 2012

This was supposed to be a Top 5 list -- 'cause that's what we do here in The Basement -- but I quickly realized we'd watched a lot of cool shit during the last 12 months. As in years past, this list is based strictly on what I was able to see during the year and is genre heavy. Duh. It's what I do. Note, the list is far from complete. I have yet to catch Skyfall, Looper, Dredd, Django Unchained and Zero Dark Thirty, all flicks that'd have a decent shot at making this list. If only I could be all things to all people. Anywho, on with my thoughts on the best of 2012. 10 - Kill List This movie ruined my day in the best possible way. I'm still left reeling from it, like I'm punch drunk. Or just drunk. You decide. I can't say I enjoyed this movie, although I know I will watch it again and would recommend it to horror fans in a heartbeat. Yes, it's a horror film. But not in the traditional sense. It's frightening and surreal, but oddly f...

Girl’s Eye View: The Expendables 2

Allow me to quickly introduce myself: My name is Kara, and I live over at www.karaschatter.com . I have no experience in the movie industry, other than watching and appreciating them. I thought I would offer up my movie reviewing skills, or lack thereof, to The Basement to give readers a female perspective on movies, new, old, good, and bad. First off: I will admit that I’m a late bloomer when it comes to appreciating old action flicks. Being a girl, I tend to steer more towards tear-jerking romantic comedies rather than blood and guts action flicks, but thanks to my husband, I caught up on the “classics.” And, man, am I glad I did before watching this movie. (I just watched Die Hard for the first time last Christmas – shame on me, I know) When the first Expendables movie came out, I was quite pleased by the ensemble cast. The second edition though? I was over the moon stoked to see it. It didn’t hurt that my “other husband” Jason Statham returned for the sequel, but I digr...

Jason reviews The Expendables 2

Schwarzenegger: "I'll be back." Willis: "You've been back enough. I'll be back." Schwarzenegger: "Yippee-ki-yay." I've died and gone to movie-nerd heaven! Mr. Church reunites the Expendables for what should be an easy paycheck, but when one of their men is murdered on the job, their quest for revenge puts them deep in enemy territory and up against an unexpected threat. If The Raid: Redemption is the best action movie ever made, then The Expendables 2 is an old-school action fan's wet dream. It's corny, cliched and full of violent gunfights and brutal brawls. And praise Jebus for it! I'm not going to bore you to tears with details on how well it's made and how surprisingly decent -- by action-film standards anyway -- the story is. Basement Dwellers should only care about how awesome the action is and how cool it is to see these guys on the big screen together. For one, the action is awesome. The opening ...

A look at Stallone and Schwarzenegger in The Tomb

In celebration of God's gift to testosterone -- The Expendables 2 opens Friday bitches -- we proudly present this still from the macho-man mash-up The Tomb. The macho men in question are Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger and The Tomb is one of those unbreakoutable prisons that only exist in movies. The latter is not as interesting as the former, which is having these 80s action icons together in a movie outside of The Expendables franchise.  The Tomb has Stallone framed for a crime he didn't commit -- and as the architect behind the super security prison he himself is jailed in. He's got to get out of lockdown despite his own supposedly foolproof design. Once imprisoned, Stallone meets Emil Rottmayer (Schwarzenegger), a convict who wants to get out very badly. Cue badass music. Expect The Tomb to be released in 2013, along with several other Schwarzenegger projects we're looking forward to in The Basement.

Helicopter vs. motorcycle in this Expendables 2 clip

And really, what more needs to be said? Oh, a water tower is used to wipe out a bunch of bad guys. There. Now nothing more needs to be said. All this cool shit has me totally psyched for the release of The Expendables 2 next Friday (Aug. 17). It's great to see old-school action alive and well, largely thanks to Sylvester Stallone's Rambo sequel and the original Expendables. This follow up continues the trend, and hopefully Hollywood is paying attention and there's many more years' of cool shit to come. Like it matters, but The Expendables 2 sees Mr. Church reunite the team for what should be an easy paycheck. But when one of their men is murdered on the job, their quest for revenge puts them deep in enemy territory and up against an unexpected threat. The cast? It stars every action star that's mattered during the last three decades save for Steven Seagal, who's too busy eating for things such as this.

Back for war: The Expendables 2 poster

This has already popped up on a few sites but hey, we still gotta post it. And what more can we say about The Expendables 2 that hasn't already been said? It's gonna rock! It can't not rock! It stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Bruce Willis, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Chuck Fucking Norris for Jebus's sake! How much more 80s can you get!?! And how much more 80s can this poster get? I say that with much respect too. I fucking love this poster! This is what movie posters looked like when I was a kid -- hand drawn and busy! And badass! This poster is badass! Sorry for all the exclamation marks, but this boy is excited! Love the tagline by the way. Mr. Church reunites the Expendables for what should be an easy paycheck, but when one of their men is murdered on the job, their quest for revenge puts them deep in enemy territory and up against an unexpected threat. Much kicking of ass will ensue, I assure you that...

Trailer round up: The Expendables 2 and The Amazing Spider-Man

Alright, the day was just too big to promote one trailer, so The Basement brings you both of the big trailer premieres. Don't say we don't dig each and every last one of you, because we do. Granted, neither preview changes the game when it comes to our anticipation for each film. We in The Basement were already sold on The Expendables 2. No amount of awesome on display below changes that. Now, we just want to see it even more. This is kick ass, redefined. As for The Amazing Spider-Man? Sure, it's a nice trailer, and I love the character. But this is a rental for me. I had my fill with the Sam Raimi take, and I'm not plunking down $10 for more. But I know this is a movie I will watch and enjoy with my son when he's old enough. The Expendables 2 opens August 17. The Amazing Spider-Man hits July 3.

Get yelled at by Terry Crews in this teaser for The Expendables 2 trailer

I'm already sick of this teaser-for-the-teaser-trailer trend coming out of Hollywood, but I have to admit this is at least halfway clever and amusing. Terry Crews, one of the many stars of the upcoming ode to 80s action awesome that is The Expendables 2, hosts this trailer. And by hosts I mean he screams at you. And shit blows up. That's it. The actual teaser is due out tomorrow. This stunt does nothing to diminish my anticipation for the movie. In fact, I laughed at the end of the short clip, which comes care of the boys at JoBlo.com. Mission accomplished I supposed. In case you've been living under a rock, The Expendables 2 hits August 17 and stars Crews, Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Just awesome!

Stallone, Willis and Arnie unload in Expendables 2 pic

The Expendables gave action fans the rare chance to see Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger together on screen. For those of us who grew up on 80s action flicks, it was a big moment. Far bigger than finally seeing De Niro and Pacino in Heat. With The Expendables 2 that historic moment is taken even further. Not only do the trio act together, they kill the shit out of things together, as is depicted in the above image. And this is a good thing! The plot for The Expendables 2 is pure badass goodness: Mr Church (Willis) recruits The Expendables for what should be an easy paycheck. Things go wrong, one of the team is killed, and the mercenaries seek revenge. My ass will be in theatres Aug. 17! In case you missed it the first time, here's the teaser trailer for your eye holes!

The Expendables 2 teaser

It's sequel week in The Basement. And isn't it ironic that the two most badass looking sequels star Bruce Willis? Ironic? No! Badass! Naturally, Willis is not alone in The Expendables 2. Back are Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Terry Crews and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Joining this cast of awesome is Chuck Norris (who hasn't aged a day in 30 years it seems) and Jean-Claude Van Damme. Yup, that's enough testosterone to power to planet. The plot isn't important beyond Willis's Mr. Church recruiting the team as payback for not fulfilling the job in the first movie. As for the trailer, it shows the cast and a lot of guns. Great big fucking guns! The Expendables 2 hits theatres Aug. 17. And our asses will be in seats to see it.
