Jason versus Orca: The Killer Whale

I'll apologize in advance for the quality of this review. I'm a few beers into the night and on medication that includes a healthy sedative. This could prove interesting. As interesting as the 1977 Richard Harris / Charlotte Rampling vehicle Orca: The Killer Whale ? Maybe not. Stick with me! A hunter squares off against a killer whale seeking vengeance for the death of it's mate.

Shawn vs The Revenant

Well, with all the zombie and vampire movies being all the rage, The Revenant is a quietly hidden gem that makes the Top 10 end of my favorite out of both genres.  So, right off the bat, this is a Good. I'll tell you why. It's a comedy. But its a dark journey and it isn't corny funny. It's "holy fuck" uncomfortable funny. The story is a sort of mash up of both genres, but neither. A sort of "original," in a sea of over-cliched films, of the sort. But I won't go too deep, as that would take away the fun.

The Basement presents a sense-sational podcast Chiller

Big news hit The Basement today, and that means good news for fans of our podcast. One could say it's sense-sational news really. So much so it's a real Chiller. OK, I'll stop now. Regular readers know we've given some press to the Chiller network 's anthology Chilling Visions: 5 Senses of Fear. In fact, you can re-read the stories here and here . The T.V. movie doesn't debut until next Friday -- May 31 at 9 p.m. to be exact -- but we've been given an advance look at the flick! And we'll share our thoughts just as Chilling Visions: 5 Sense of Fear hits the boob tube! We're pretty pumped, and hope all you Basementites are pumped too! Don't worry, our monthly summer specials continue unhindered. Plus we've got a few other surprises in store as we charge into Season Five this October. Stick with us! What Movie Wednesday rises from the grave again

It's What Movie Wednesday time again. And that can only mean one thing, that Mike S over at The Corner of Terror is ready to subject himself to one of the potentially shitty movies on the list below. And if there's one thing The S likes more than watching shitty movies, it's having you all vote on what movie he needs to watch. So here's this week's selections: 1. The Triangle (2005) 2. Witchcraft 13: Blood of the Chosen (2008) 3. Room 33 (2009) Now get on over to The Corner of Terror group page or fan page on Facebook and vote. Voting closes at 6:30 p.m. PST and the tweet along at @TerrorCorner begins at 7 p.m. PST. PS: I doubt the above picture of Triangle star Catherine Bell is from the actual movie. Nor do any of us in The Basement care.
