The #Phenomenon campaign begins

Our buddy Jonathan Chance dropped us a line asking us to tell you about his latest effort to bring his Shriekfest nominated screenplay Something Like a Phenomenon to the big screen. As with many indie projects, Chance is going the crowdsourcing route that proved so successful for Veronica Mars and Iron Sky. What's cool about this endeavour is that contributors get some cool swag. Called the Million-Man Merch, Chance is selling promotional mugs, T-shirts and other bad to the ass stuff from the official Something Like a Phenomenon Cafe Press storefront. You can check out what the man is selling right here ! Proceeds from each sale go toward Cafe Press, the production and the talented artist who created our stunning graphic. John's also launched an official Twitter account for his film-to-be. You can keep tabs with how the production unfolds at @BorleyPhenom and the hashtag #Phenomenon. What's the flick about? For one year Harry Price has the key to the notorio...

Spread the word, it's Something Like a #Phenomenon

It's been months since we updated Basementites on the progress of Jonathan Chance's Shriekfest nominated screenplay Something Like a Phenomenon.  Chance is charging ahead with getting his script on the big screen , and hopes to have some news in that regard soon. Until then, he's cooked up the promotional video below. Check it: Also, we encourage all of you to use the #Phenomenon hashtag to generate buzz about this cool sounding flick. John's short The Timeslip is awesome, and we're confident he's going to do something bad ass with the film. Here's what John has to say about the project, which is based on the very real legend of the Borley Rectory , the most haunted house in England : "As a Essex native researching all about my neighboring parish of  Borley and the accounts surrounding the rectory I believe this very tale should be nothing less than a  feature film and as terrifying a spectacle as the source material and hy...

This poster is something of a phenomenon

Several months ago, we brought to your attention a great short film called, " The Timeslip ," directed by the Chance Brothers .  Then, we offered up a bit of a tease about a screenplay for their next project " Something Like a Phenomenon " being entered into the 2012 Shriekfest competition- where it made it to the semi-finals. NOW, we're proud to bring you the first poster for this project. The story is based on the year that Harry Price - a renowned paranormal investigator , spent at Borley Rectory in 1937-1938.  Using an advertisment in " The Times " paper, he gathered fifty volunteers to conduct the investigation of place claimed to be England 's most haunted house .  Was the house truly haunted... or was Harry Price involved in an elaborate hoax? Considering the work done on " The Timeslip ," I (Mike S) for one am looking forward to seeing this movie when it's released.  Not only do I love horror, but I have an interes...

Jason reviews The Timeslip

If commercials were added, The Timeslip would be a perfect length for an episode of the old Twilight Zone TV series. Whether or not writer/directors Richard and Jonathan Chance had that in mind when they made The Timeslip remains to be seen, but that's the best way I can sum this short film up. It's a solid 15-minute tale made on a low budget with a lot of imagination and filmmaking ingenuity. The film's biggest asset is its main character. It's nice to see someone react to a situation believably, doing what it takes to survive under bizarre circumstances. That aspect alone earns it a Good. But it also holds the viewer's attention despite the lack of dialogue and exposition. How can you see The Timeslip? Hopefully we will be able to screen it at Dark Fest 2013!
