Jessica Alba and Thomas Jane's The Veil gets a trailer

It's been a long while since we heard anything about the upcoming supernatural mystery/thriller The Veil. Then all of a sudden a trailer appears, which makes sense as the flick opens next month. You remember The Veil? It's from Blumhouse Productions, who pretty much own the horror industry at the moment, and stars hottie Jessica Alba and former Punisher Thomas Jane. OK, you're up to speed.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For lands a new trailer

My hopes haven't been very high for the sequel to Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez 's Sin City . To me, the flick is several years out of style, and although the cast is stellar, the first trailer gave me a been there, done that kinda vibe. This second trailer, however, has me more than a little jacked for A Dame to Kill For.

Jessica Alba, Thomas Jane to star in cult flick The Veil

Cults are a real world evil that are about to get a little more love from the horror community. A segment in V/H/S 2 dealt with cults, and now Blumhouse Productions has a cult-themed flick on the way with The Veil . What's groovy is genre fave Thomas Jane and some hot chick named Jessica Alba are set to star. Alba has worked herself into a nice B-movie niche with the Machete films, and it's always good to see Jane get a shot at the big screen instead of the direct-to-DVD fare he's turned up in lately.

The Month of Horror Day 5: Idle Hands

Basement contributor Matt Bellamy has taken it upon himself to watch and review at least one horror movie a day for the month of October . . . because he's awesome that way! Today, Bellamy travels back to a time when Jessica Alba was hot. Wait . . . Remember when Devon Sawa was a thing? Ahh the 90's, they were simpler times and we apparently enjoyed seeing Mr. Sawa in movies but then the millennium hit and we just kind of forgot all about him; Seth Green is alive and well though! First off, this is not a good movie, it's actually pretty terrible yet for some reason it's enjoyable on a " comfort food " sort of level. You don't need to think, you can easily text on your phone or browse the Internet while it's on in the background and you won't miss much. The humour is juvenile and obvious, the acting is bad, and the storyline is totally one-note BUT Jessica Alba w...

Machete Kills in this international preview

Yeah, it's in Spanish. But this slick little preview does provide a first look at Robert Rodriguez 's sequel to 2010's Machete . From the footage here, if you dug Machete, you'll likely dig Machete Kills. For sure there's gonna be over-the-top violence, black comedy and a bevy of hotties like Amber Heard , Jessica Alba , Michelle Rodriguez , and Sofia Vergara . Plus there's Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas and Charlie Sheen as the President of the United States . Some scary looking mofo named Danny Trejo is in it too. Here's the preview: The U.S. government recruits Machete to battle his way through Mexico in order to take down an arms dealer who looks to launch a weapon into space. Machete Kills hits theatres Sept. 13. Source: JoBlo.com Related articles The 'Machete Kills' Trailer is Here! Alexa Vega is a Killjoy in Machete Kills

In what's really nothing more than an excuse to show a picture of a hot chick, we've scored (stole really) this image of Alexa Vega: Former Spy Kid from the upcoming grindhouse sequel Machete Kills.  The star uploaded the image to her Twitter stream, and she is certainly all growed up -- unlike me, for making comments like that. No word yet on who Killjoy is or how she fits into the whole crazy plot of Machete Kills.  Vega is joined in the mayhem by Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Mel Gibson, Jessica Alba, Demian Bichir, Amber Heard, Sofia Vergara, Zoe Saldana, William Sadler, Edward James Olmos, Charlie Sheen, Elise Avellan and Electra Avellan. The whole thing comes from producer Robert Rodriguez of course. Machete Kills follows ex-federale Machete (Trejo), as he's recruited by the U.S. government to stop a terrorist named Mendez the Madman, who happens to be Mexico’s leading cartel dealer. The flick is due out next year.

Machete will kill with Amber Heard

Because one story about Amber Heard a week isn't enough . . . the genre fave and all-around hottie has signed on for the much-anticipated sequel, Machete Kills. And she's in good babe company too, joining series' veterans Jessica Alba and Shawn's fave, Michelle Rodriguez. Heard will play an assassin code-named Miss San Antonio. Also along for the ride are Machete himself, Danny Trejo, and legendary action dude Mel Gibson. That's right, Mel Gibson. The story, as we've previously reported, is as follows: "Machete is recruited by the U.S. Government for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man. Machete must battle his way through Mexico to take down a madman cartel leader and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space. Machete takes on an army in an effort to dismantle a plan for global anarchy." Machete Kills is due out next year.

Micro Review: Machete

I'm late to the punch here on this one as Shawn and Anthony Michael Bosa have already watched this bad boy. But better late than never right!?! Machete is bad ass. It's a throwback to the 1970's blacksploitation era, only with a Mexican. Think of this as a more serious take on Black Dynamite. There's truckloads of action and gore and some great bit roles for the awesome likes of Don Johnson, Robert De Niro, Jeff Fahey, and Steven Seagal. Michelle Rodriguez and Jessica Alba supply the hotness. Too bad the whole silly project collapses under its own weight in the final reel. I'm glad I saw it and I did enjoy it, but I will likely not watch it again. That rates Machete a Bad for me.
