Greg Lamberson and Top 5 DMCs

We put foot to audio ass not once, not twice, but thrice this past weekend on the mighty Radio NL 610 AM Kamloops; and now we proudly present this, the podcast version of our latest broadcast... From The Basement! And Jason and Shawn have more -- like eight minutes more -- of their interview with writer/director Greg Lamberson! Greg, who is best known for low-budget horror like Slime City Massacre, is making an action movie called Guns of Eden, and he's taken to  IndieGoGo  to get the film financed. Why? What's the movie about? How can you help get it made? You'll have to tune in to find out! He and Jason also take a few minutes to discuss the post-COVID cinema landscape. It's a great chat for genre and movie fans! But that's not all; Last week Jason and Shawn talked the DMC -- Dumbest Moment in Cinema -- when it came to a scene in Gerard Butler's movie Greenland. Given all the years people have been making and watching movies, there has to be more than one dumb...

Greg Lamberson saves Guns of Eden from the Dumbest Moments in Cinema

The Basement Boys are back and ready to dominate the mighty Radio NL 610 AM Kamloops airwaves for another weekend of all-things entertainment with this latest broadcast... From The Basement! This week's episode is a sequel of sorts. Last week, Jason and Shawn talked the DMC -- Dumbest Moment in Cinema -- when it came to a scene in Gerard Butler's new movie, Greenland. Given all the years people have been making and watching movies, there has to be more than one dumb moment in cinema, right? Right! And this week the Dynamic Duo count down their Top 5 Dumbest Moments in Cinema! What are they? Stick with us! Stick with us you shall, as Jason welcomes writer/director Greg Lamberson back to the show to talk his upcoming movie, Guns of Eden. Greg, who is best known for low-budget horror like Slime City Massacre, is making an action movie, and he's taken to IndieGoGo to get the film financed. Why? What's the movie about? How can you help get it made? You'll have to tune ...

Greg Lamberson locks and loads with Guns of Eden IndieGoGo campaign

We enjoyed our chat with writer/director Greg Lamberson last year, when he joined us during a promotional tour for his horror film Widow's Point. Haven't heard it yet? Fear not, you can still tune in right here . Suffice to say, we're proud to put our support behind anything the man does, which is why we want to direct your attention to his next project, Guns of Eden, which Greg launched an IndieGoGo campaign for. Greg wrote the script for Guns of Eden, and will also direct and produce. He describes the film as a cross between Deliverance and First Blood, with a little bit of The Warriors thrown in. Up-and-coming actor Alexandra Faye Sadeghian (below) headlines the cast. Guns of Eden features Sadeghian as a Buffalo police officer suffering from PTSD. The film follows four campers who witness an execution, and find themselves hunted by armed militia. Us Basement Dwellers encourage you to check out the film's IndieGoGo page and help get this flick made! Source: Guns of ...

The Greg Lamberson interview, Bill & Ted Face the Music, and Rogue (2020)

It's Monday morning, and nothing goes with your first cup of coffee like the latest podcast From The Basement. Sure, it used to be newspapers, but this is 2020. So if you're not listening, get with the times! And we've got a gooder (proper English) for you this week, with even more of our interview with Greg Lamberson, writer/director of the new horror flick Widow's Point starring Craig Sheffer. How much more? An easy five minutes, wherein Greg and Jason discuss the movie in greater detail, and reveal a connection between Greg and a Basement Favourite guest. Who is it? Stick with us! And stay tuned, as Jason and Shawn take on Bill & Ted Face the Music, a sequel 29 years in the making, and Rogue (2020), which pits hottie Megan Fox up against a man-eating lion. How do these diverse movies fare against the reviewing might of our Dynamic Duo? Push play on the player below to receive the answers to these, and many other, unimportant questions. You know you want...

Bill & Ted go Rogue and Face the Music from The Devil and Father Amorth

The Basement Boys are back for another round of entertainment -- and entertaining -- radio to kick off your September. Just what have they got on deck this week, when they take to the Radio NL 610 AM airwaves at 10:05 this morning? Reviews of two big releases and an interview with a veteran genre director, that's what! Jason sat down with Greg Lamberson, writer/director of the new horror flick Widow's Point starring Craig Sheffer, which he reviewed on our last episode. He and Greg discuss Widow's Point and its literary origins, and how the film is a far cry from his past horror films. Then The Dynamic Duo put the first big release to come down the pike in a long time -- Bill & Ted Face the Music -- on the chopping block. Do they deem this sequel, which was a brewin' for some 29 years, worth the wait? They also tackle Megan Fox's killer lion movie Rogue, and a slew of other films too legion to count. But one of them is an exorcist documentary from Willi...

Greg Lamberson scares his way into The Basement

We have good news, and bad news. And custom dictates we render the bad news first, as Robert G. Durant once said. The bad news is there's no episode of From The Basement this week. Sad face is sad. The good news is we're back Friday, Sept. 4 with an all-new episode, and an all-new interview! With whom, you ask? Veteran genre director Greg Lamberson, that's who. Best know for his Slime City films, and novels like Johnny Gruesome, Lamberson has a new flick headed our way called Widow's Point, and it stars Nightbreed's Craig Sheffer. He and Jason will talk all about the film, it's literary roots, and how Lamberson went for something a little more classy this time around. The Stanley Cup Playoffs will dictate when From The Basement will broadcast, but the plan is for our usual Friday night time of 6:05, and you'll hear our conversation with Greg Lamberson, only on the mighty Radio NL 610 AM Kamloops. Stick with us!

Review: Widow's Point

OK, let's face it; we all like a good haunted house flick. There's something comforting in watching a genre where you know what you're getting going in and, as long as the movie delivers, you're happy. Widow's Point, the latest from writer/director Greg Lamberson, is very much a classic haunted house movie. You've got a great setting -- in this case a lighthouse -- with a grisly past, and more spirits than you can shake a stick at. And it's all handled in a fairly restrained and respectable manner, with an emphasis placed on genuine chills over jump scares and gore. And the film is headlined by Craig Sheffer, who I haven't seen in a movie for a long, long time. And he owns this one with a great performance, slowly descending into insanity as the film carries on. Jack Nicholson could've learned a thing or two from Sheffer's work here had this film come out before The Shining. Yup, went there. Sheffer plays a down-on-his-luck writer who d...
