Jason and Shawn versus House of Good and Evil

House of Good and Evil Jason: House of Good and Evil is an interesting beast. It's a great example of how you write and direct a low-budget feature. One location, for the most part anyway, and a limited cast. This is pretty much a one-woman show. And Rachel Marie Lewis just kills it. She's hot, and she can act the pants off a businessman in Vegas. Gotta love a chick with that kind of talent. The flick has its flaws. It's too long and borders on melodrama at times. There's a big third-act twist that I won't give away. You'll dig it or you won't. At first I did, but the more I thought about it, the more annoyed I became. By the time everything sunk in, I felt I'd wasted my time. I wanted to give House of Good and Evil a Good because I dug so much of it, but the ending left me cold. A Bad it is. Shawn : Without spoiling this movie , those who know me, know this is my least favorite style of movie. A time waster. This movie could be subject to two ...

House of Good and Evil: The May Special

It's summer! Well, not quite. But close enough for the Basement Boys to launch the first of five podcast specials that bridge the gap between seasons four and five. As we say in Canada , this one's a gooder, eh! First up is an exclusive interview with first-time filmmaker Mark Dossett, who just secured funding for his horror feature The Torment of Laurie Ann Cullom. We did a Q and A with Mark late last year, and you can read up on the project right here . But reading is one thing; hearing the man talk about it is another thing entirely. This is a chat no film enthusiast wants to miss! Then it's time for some reviewin'.  The movie on the chopping block this episode should be familiar to regular visitors to the site: House of Good and Evil ! We've pimped Blu de Golyer 's psychological thriller many times, and are excited to see the end product. Can the flick live up to expectations? Stick with us! The May Special goes live tomorrow -- Friday , May 10 -...

Our summer specials are coming . . . to get you, Barbara!

We've been lying pretty low these last few weeks -- and we're still technically on "vacation" -- but there's a long-running tradition of monthly summer specials here in The Basement, and these bad boys will continue this summer. There's no set dates and no movies scheduled for these, but suffice to say they'll land once a month from May through September. Season five premieres Thursday, Oct. 10 . . . just so you know. And knowing is half the battle. First up is a film we've pimped on the site many times. That's right, our thoughts on Blu de Golyer 's House of Good and Evil lands Friday , May 10. Every monthly special will land on a Friday, 'cause that's how we roll. Shawn, Mike S and I thank everyone who continues to stick with us. We promise you the fun is just beginning! Stick with us! Yeah, kinda said that. Wanna fight about it?  Source: We Came from the Basement Related articles Dare You Enter the House of Good and...

An intense new trailer for House of Good and Evil

Blu de Golyer 's psychological thriller House of Good and Evil screens at the Arizona International Film Festival a week tonight, so it seems only fitting that a new trailer for this creepy looking flick has hit The Basement. House of Good and Evil follows the story of a young couple who move from the fast-paced life of the city to an isolated home nestled deep in the woods of Appalachia in a last-chance effort to save their deteriorating marriage. They quickly find out extraordinary evil has followed them to their new address. What that evil is isn't clear. Is it a ghost? Creepy old lady? The couple themselves? Only time will tell, but thank Jebus that this preview didn't give away all the goods. I actually want to watch House of of Good and Evil and find out. That's a rarity these days. The flick stars Rachel Marie Lewis, Christian Oliver , Marietta Marich , Jordan Rhodes , Rob Neukirch and Bo Keister. For more on House of Good and Evil, visit ...

UPDATED: House of Good and Evil gets a facelift

In the form of this slick -- and a little creepy -- poster that is. The new image coincides with writer/producer Blu de Golyer 's psycho thriller being named an official selection at next month's Arizona International Film Festival , so that's two pieces of good news for de Glyyer and director David Mun.
