Suzanne Cappelletti versus Oculus

Thursday night after much deliberation and a few beers to numb my better judgement, I got tickets for Oculus. I was a little surprised at how empty the theatre was. Maybe 40 bodies in the seats max. I was taken in by the minimal ad campaign with the stories of the mirror and the tragedies involved. Lately, trailers seem to give away every key detail and take the jump scares away, so needless to say, I was intrigued.

New Oculus images for your eye holes

Oculus looks and sounds like the real deal -- a creepy supernatural thriller from a rising star director. And we have it on good authority the music for Mike Flanagan 's spooky tale is pretty damn good too. The flick comes out next Friday . This morning a slew of new images appeared online that we've decided to share with our fellow Basementities. Check 'em out below:

Karen Gillan confronts her night terrors in this Oculus clip

Words cannot express how pumped we are for Mike Flanagan 's Oculus. Yes, you've heard us praise his previous film, Absentia, and listened to our interview with Oculus composers The Newton Brothers. But advance word is the flick is awesome, and scary. Which makes it scary awesome. Which means we're all over it. Below is a clip from the movie, which opens April 11, and it promises some shorts shitting moments for sure. And star Karen Gillan in negligee. Check it:

See the Devil in this second Oculus trailer

Who's pumped for our interview with Oculus composers The Newton Brothers? That bit of Basement goodness lands on Friday . To tide you over, we thought we'd show you this second, shorts-shitting preview for the movie itself. You like to be scared right? Then Oculus will be right up your alley.

Mike Flanagan's Oculus gets an official poster

Based on the strength of Absentia, we Basementites are pretty pumped for director Mike Flanagan 's upcoming horror flick Oculus. Abesntia is pure creepy, and the teaser trailer for Oculus is more of the same, which is a good thing in our book. If you didn't catch the preview, here's our previous post on the movie. Now we've got the official poster for the Blumhouse release, and it's just great:

Absentia director reflects evil in Oculus

Get it? The movie is about something evil living in a mirror. And mirrors reflect images. Get it? All stupidity on my part aside, this preview for director Mike Flanagan 's Oculus is pretty scary. This doesn't surprise me because Flanagan made the utterly creepy Absentia, which we reviewed on the show a couple of season's back. It's nice to see the man getting a shot at the big time with this Blumhouse release.
