He Never Died and Summer Movies 2016

It's hard to believe, but the summer-movie season is almost upon us once again. In fact, it officially kicks off May 5 with the release of Captain American: Civil War. And there's a gazillion movies scheduled to come out during the three months that follow. Do you know what you want to watch this summer? Jason, Shawn and Amy put that question to each other as they figure out to watch -- and what not to watch -- between May and September. And that conversation is just one of many the Terrible Trio log during tonight's show.

Shawn Takes On Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice

Shame on you.   You know who you are.   You’re the ones that apply your opinion, in some pretentious manner, as though what you think is going to change the world. Structure this, story that, too much this, not enough that. Did you forget that this was a superhero movie? Yes, you did.   It was so epic, that you forgot. I’m not going to fan boy, on and on.

Jason versus Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is supposed to launch an entire DC movie universe. Given the divisiveness of how this would-be blockbuster is being received, there's a chance Warner Bros.'s plan could be jeopardy. Probably not, but a chance. Opinions are subjective though, and one person's hatred is another fan's gem. I wasn't pumped heading into Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, but I wanted to like it. I'm a Batman fan, enjoyed Man of Steel, and am all about seeing classic characters brought to life on the big screen.

Jay talks movies and box office on big city radio

Shawn and I are no strangers to the radio, but today was a Basement first as I was invited to talk movies with veteran newshound Shane Woodford on the CKNW News Talk 980 afternoon show. Sure, I've talked such things on local radio many a time, but CKNW is THE place for news and current events in Vancouver. You know, Vancouver? Gateway to the Pacific? The Big Smoke? Where The X-Files, Millennium and countless other Hollywood movies and TV shows were made? Big city, lots of people?

Batman V Superman V Daredevil

UPDATED! Marvel officially announced today (Thursday, Jan. 7)  that Daredevil Season 2 will launch on Friday, March 18. That's one week before Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. And I will still pick it over the DC flick any day! And now the original story: The wait is over for fans of Marvel's Daredevil series on Netflix. Kinda. In the sense that we now know when Season 2 debuts on the streaming services. And Marvel is showing some stones by releasing it against one of the year's most anticipated movies.

The Netflix Top 5 and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Those pretentious bastards and bastardette are back with more podcast goodness designed to pleasure your ear holes. This time Jason, Shawn and Amy are fulfilling a fan's request to break down what the Basement Dwellers consider the best of the best on U.S. and Canadian Netflix. That's right, between Canucks Jason and Shawn, and transplanted Canuck Amy down in the Good ole U.S. of U., the crew feel they've got a pretty good handle on what's worth watching on the popular streaming service. This is the first of what could become a monthly-ish instalment on the show. Because, with so many TV shows, docs and movies to choose from -- and programming added all the time -- there's certainly more than five things worth watching. What do the Terrible Trio go with this go around? Stick with us! Plus, a hardcore Superman fan like Shawn, and comic-book expert like Amy, aren't going to let the drop of the much anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer g...

Zoolander 2, Deadpool and the Bad Boys sequels

Never say never again, never. This is the lesson Jason and Shawn have learned and learned again as The Basement returns for a third time. And the third time is the charm as The Basement Boys unleash a new podcast with a shiny new format. How new? For one, gone are the movie reviews that made Jason and Shawn popular in the first place. In fact, a good portion of this show is spent slagging film critics of the mainstream and Internet variety. Ballsy or stupid? Stick with us!
