A few weeks back I reviewed Frozen Hell, an updated version of John W. Campbell Jr.'s classic Who Goes There?, which inspired the film versions of The Thing. And I dug it.
Although I didn't write it at the time, I was curious how long it would take someone to develop a film adaptation of this longer tale. Well, the wait is over as Universal Studios and Blumhouse have announced they're moving ahead with an adaptation of Frozen Hell.
Executive producer Alan Donnes is overseeing the project, which he says is a remake of The Thing, but will include the new material from Campbell's original version of Who Goes There? That story is 45 pages longer than the novel that inspired The Thing From Another World and John Carpenter's The Thing.
This will be the first time Campbell's original vision of the story will appear on the big screen, which makes me a little bit excited for the project. Yes, we've had remakes and reboots up the wazoo lately, but I'm OK with another version of this story coming to theatres -- as long as it's better than the 2011 prequel...
How about you guys? You ready for another spin on The Thing?
