Halloween Day by Day: Top Five YouTube Channels With Scary Videos


The internet is a marvelous and terrifying place at times.  One of those places that is both awesome and at times scary is YouTube.  In addition to theatrical horror movies, I really enjoy watching "real life" ghost videos on YouTube.  As such, I have a few channels I subscribe to that showcases a variety of scary videos- either ghost, urban exploration, cryptid, etc.

Below, you'll find my "Top Five YouTube Channels With Scary Videos"!

This is one of my favorite channels.  They showcase a broad range of videos from ghost all the way to cryptids.  The lengths of the videos are generally just long enough to be enjoyable without dragging on unnecessarily.

The narration is also very good as well.  Suitably professional without being over the top.  It has a nice flow and pacing to it as well.  It fits well with the type of video, and isn't annoying or distracting.

Another good channel with also cover a wide range of video subjects.  Like to above channel, Sir Spooks tends to post videos that are just long enough to be satisfying, while leaving you with just a bit of hunger for more.  I often find myself working my way through their playlists in the late hours of the night.

He's got a wonderfully eerie voice for the narrations.  It helps to set a proper sense of unease while watching the videos in the dark.

Lutch Green isn't a channel that does "Top Five" type videos- each video covers one particular case or event in depth.  They're a decent length, and manages to fit a lot of good information into each video- while also having a wonderful mood to them as well.  Very professionally done.

Lutch has a wonderful voice that is both atmospheric and professional- a great balance for a more informational video of this nature.

This channel covers topics that are more mysterious than plainly supernatural.  Some of the best ones are ones that cover mysterious unsolved crimes.  Like the others on this list, the videos aren't too long or too short.

The narrator does often sound like they're reading from a script, but they still have an amazingly and suitably sober and eerie voice.  A very professional voice that reflects the mood of the particular video.

I must confess that Slapped Ham isn't as good as the others on this list in my opinion.  It feels just a touch over-produced to me at times.  Despite this, it is an entertaining channel just for the videos it showcases.

The narrator, Cal, has a decent voice- though it can be a touch distracting from the general mood of the videos being shown.

Unlock your fate with The Puzzle

When my dad wasn't working, building stuff or being my dad, he was making puzzles. It was a guaranteed way for him to unwind. So it was with great interest that I sat down to watch Italian filmmaker Davide Melini's award-winning short The Puzzle. You see, the mother in the five-minute film likes to relax with puzzles just like my dad. Unfortunately, her good-for-nothing son keeps harassing her for money. Losing herself in her favourite passtime, the mother soon discovers that completing this puzzle might unlock a nightmare. The Puzzle has been an official selection at more European film festivals than you can shake a stick at, and was voted Third Best Italian Film at the Rome International Film Festival in 2008. Having watched it, I'm not surprised. It's a tight little film that hits you hard in the final few seconds. #CocktailHour: Slushtail

  Summer approaches, inspiring thoughts of sunshine, backyard parties, and having a tip and sip with friends.  With that in mind, I bring you this week sunny beverage. To make a slushtail, mix a can of frozen orange juice, a can of frozen lemonade (or limeade), a can of pineapple juice, a couple cups of black tea (or English Breakfast), and two cups of bourbon- such as Southern Comfort, in a pitcher.  When it's all nicely mixed, put it in the freezer until it's a nice slushy consistency. Scoop the slush into a cocktail glass, and pour in some Sprite or 7-Up.  Add a little umbrella for some frivolous fun, and a straw. Voila!  Ready to enjoy. This is a very refreshing drink.  The fruit juices, Sprite, and bourbon- when chilled makes for a great punch-like drink.  The bourbon doesn't overwhelm juices.   In fact, they are all nicely balanced in terms of flavors.  The sourness of the citrus fruits contrasts well with the slightly sweeter Sout...
