Review: You Might Be the Killer

What's more fun than a movie about a killer hacking and slashing his way through a group of camp counsellors? How about one where one of said counsellors might be the killer, but he doesn't know for sure?

That's the premise behind You Might Be the Killer, a razor sharp, and often comedic, spin on the old killer-in-the-woods trope. Apparently inspired by a Twitter thread that deconstructed the slasher genre, this is a fun way to kill a Friday night, if you'll excuse the pun.

Everything about this movie is smart, which I didn't expect. The story is told largely in flashbacks and out of sequence. There's ample tension during the current action too, as our hero/potential killer tries to figure out what's going on, and if he's to blame. Long story short, You Might Be the Killer is well written and directed by Brett Simmons.

Smart, but not pretentious. Simmons gives us some great kills, which induce as many laughs as cringes due to the gore. And he casts a number of hotties as well, including Shawn and I's sometimes co-host Amy Wickenheiser!

Hi Amy :)

Can't sign off without giving kudos to the leads. Yes, that's Buffy the Vampire Slayers Alyson Hannigan as the hero's best friend. And she's awesome. Ditto Fran Kranz, who plays the hero and maybe killer. He starred in that other meta horror movie Cabin in the Woods, and is good here as well.

Yeah, You Might Be the Killer rates a Good. Can't recommend it enough actually. Go see it!

Top 5 quotes from the Rambo franchise

It's Rambo Day, which means it's a day we celebrate all things Rambo. And no, we didn't make that up. It's a real thing, and part of the lead in to Rambo: Last Blood coming out on Friday. We were going to celebrate by doing a Top 5 favourite Rambo kills, but the fine folks at Arrow in the Head already did something like that, so I figured why not share our favourite Rambo quotes. I like quotes. Quotes are good. Anyway, here we go with our Top 5, in no particular order: 5) "They drew first blood." - John Rambo, First Blood (1982) Because it's always cool when the hero references the title of the movie in a quote. 4) "Live for nothing, or die for something. Your call." - John Rambo, Rambo (2008) Because it's 100-per-cent truth, and is the exclamation mark on a great monologue by Stallone. 3) "I could have killed 'em all. I could kill you. In town, you're the law. Out here, it's me. Don't push it, or I'l...
