Word has reached The Basement that Marvel Comics creator Stan Lee has died. He was 95.
Lee passed away in the early hours of this morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles. The cause of death has yet to be determined.
A legend among comic book and movie fans, Lee created many of the most beloved Marvel characters, including Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, Daredevil, the Hulk and many, many more.
He's also appeared in every Marvel Cinematic Universe movie to date, and added narration to Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends and The Hulk Saturday morning cartoons during the 1980s.
Being a Marvel fan, this is pretty sad news. Lee's characters and creations certainly influenced my creativity as a child. It can be argued his influences will be felt for generations to come as the Marvel brand lives on.
Thanks for a lifetime of great stories and memories, Stan. Excelsior!
