Q & A: Linnea Sage

If there’s one thing – and there is more than one thing, by the way – that’s refreshing about the new web series Wildcats it’s that it’s got something to say. Sure, it’s funny, and the cast – led by New York actor Linnea Sage – are particularly funny, but it encompasses an important and empowering message that most television series, let alone web series would be bothered or brave enough to include.

Actress. Model. Voice-Over Artist. Is there anything we’re missing? You’re definitely mutli-talented, Linnea!

Ha! I don’t think you’re missing anything.

Were you surprised by the success of Wildcats?

Nothing is a guaranteed success. We were just passionate about the project and were going to make it and love it and work hard on it no matter what. It is extremely amazing and fortunate that it got such a great response. 

When did you know it was a hit?

When I attended the premiere for it. I got to watch a bunch of people react to it and go totally crazy for it so I had a feeling that the internet might like it, too. 

Do you believe it’s the show’s combination of laughs and life lessons that can be attributed to its popularity? 

Is there a formula? I’m not sure. I think everyone who worked on the production was extremely talented and very dedicated. The writing is wonderful, and I think the fact that it is based on a very true story and circumstances makes it even more appealing. 

Are you confident there’ll be more episodes?

Absolutely!

Now that you’re chasing film and television roles,  can you genuinely say that one type of work – either the voice-over work or acting roles – is easier to get than the other?

It’s different for everyone, of course. I believe that luck is when preparation meets opportunity. There’s a lot of luck involved, and all you can do is to be prepared.

Do you feel your voice-over work has helped you get in a room though? Has it opened doors for acting?

My reputation in the voice over world certainly shows people that I am reliable and good at my job. 

You do a lot of voice overs for commercials. Would you like to do one in a big, animated movie some day?

Disney princess, fluffy pegasus/unicorn baby, evil Lego-stegosaurus ... Just spitballing here! I’m game for anything!
