I know reporting on where a movie is going to be filmed isn't exactly the newsiest of things for a site like this to report, but we're pretty big fans of the new incarnation of Star Trek here in The Basement, and we're from Canada -- eh -- so we're a bit excited that the next Trek is filming in The True North Strong and Free.
In Vancouver, B.C. actually. Just a few hours drive from Basement headquarters, to be exact.
Some of the flick will also be shot in Seoul, Korea, but the bulk of Star Trek 3 will be filmed in Vancouver, which means some of us Basement Dwellers have a road trip in our not so distant future. Exciting stuff.
Robert Orci, who co-wrote the first two Treks and also penned the third, steps into the director's chair as J.J. Abrams is still busy with the new Star Wars. Oscar winning cinematographer Claudio Miranda (Life of Pi, Tron: Legacy) will shoot the thing.
Star Trek 3 goes before the cameras early next year, and hits theatres summer 2016.
