Lionsgate has Cooties

Funnily enough, Matt Bellamy and I were talking about Elijah Wood's new horror/comedy Cooties around the beer and wing table just the other night. Now we hear director Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion's flick, which is getting rave reviews at Sundance, is being eyed for North American distribution by Lionsgate.

Saw and Insidious scribe Leigh Whannell co-wrote and also stars in the movie, which tells of a mysterious virus that hits an isolated elementary school, transforming the kids into a feral swarm of mass savages. An unlikely hero must lead a motley band of teachers in the fight of their lives.

Yeah, sounds like a lot of fun, if you're sick and twisted like the Basement crew. I dig me the old-school poster below too.

Cooties also stars Alison Pill and Rainn Wilson.
