Ender's Game trailer has space combat and Harrison Ford

Having never read Orson Scott Card's sci-fi tale about kids fighting an alien race, I wasn't that excited for the big screen adaptation of Ender's Game. But writer/director Gavin Hood has acquired himself a pretty heavy cast that includes such screen legends as Harrison Ford and Ben Kingsley.

Yeah, Ford is starting to look and sound old, but he's still Han Solo, Indiana Jones and Blade Runner, whether he's got over it or not!

Seventy years after a horrific alien war, an unusually gifted child is sent to an advanced military school in space to prepare for a future invasion.

This looks pretty dark for a movie featuring kids as the protagonists. And slick too, with lots of sci-fi action and adventure. My wife has read the books and says the series is more than just space opera. If Hood and company can bring out the layers of Card's story, this could be more than another tween franchise wannabe.

Check out the trailer for yourself. Ender's Game hits theatres Nov. 1.
