That's what our friends at JoBlo.com are saying. Contributor Paul Shirey says he's heard from a credible source that the fifth entry in the Die Hard franchise will receive an R rating for it's Feb. 14 release, with an official announcement coming soon.
Gotta say, having grown up with the series' R-rated roots, I'm giddy. No, I don't need copious amounts of blood and gore to make me happy, but I also don't need "Yippe-ki-yay motherBLAM!" either. John McClane, much like Shawn and I, is a foul-mouthed, smart aleck, motherfucker, and that comes off best uncensored.
Shirey says it might seem silly to get excited about a movie's rating, and I agree. But it's nice to see a big studio like 20th Century Fox realize the brand they are working with and not compromise it. Is there hope for Hollywood after all?
Doubt it, but at least they're trying.
John McClane (Bruce Willis) travels to Russia to help out his seemingly wayward son, Jack, only to discover that Jack (Jai Courtney) is a CIA operative working to prevent a nuclear-weapons heist, causing the father and son to team up against underworld forces.
Bring on Feb 14, motherfucker!
