Oscar winner Barry Levinson finds horror in The Bay

It must be found-footage night in The Basement as we bring you another preview for just such a genre film, this time with some big-name clout at the helm.

Better known for movies like Rain Man and Good Morning, Vietnam it might come as a surprise to see Barry Levinson direct a horror film. Well, he did make Sphere. The less said about that the better. But it does feel like he's slumming in my favourite genre.

Still, the premise behind The Bay holds promise. Check it: chaos breaks out in a small Maryland town after an ecological disaster occurs. The footage we're shown is supposed to be taken from cameras in the area that were seized by the government only to be leaked and cobbled together into this film.

Hey, it could happen.

The Bay stars Kristen Connolly from The Cabin in the Woods and a bunch of other people I've never heard of. It's unleashed in theatres and on demand Nov. 2.
