Santa kills again in Silent Night

Because nothing -- and I mean nothing -- is safe from the remake train, that notorious 80s slasher flick Silent Night, Deadly Night is getting a once over care of Anchor Bay.

Bloody Disgusting let it drop that the film is a loose remake of the 1984 original about a boy whose parents are murdered by a guy in a Santa suit on Christmas Eve. Surprise, surprise: he grows up to commit his own holiday themed murders. I can honestly say I've never seen it, so no comment on the film's quality. Will have to rectify that.

The redo stars scream queen and My Blood Valentine 3D star Jaime King and veteran character actor Malcom McDowell, who is no stranger to horror remakes after headlining Rob Zombie's Halloween. Also on board on Donal Logue, Jamie Kennedy, Brendan Fehr, Lisa Marie and Ellen Wong. King plays a small-town sheriff who battles the Santa Claus killer.

Silent Night begins shooting next week in Winnipeg.
