Basement contributor Matt Bellamy has taken it upon himself to watch and review at least one horror movie a day for the month of October . . . because he's awesome that way! And, with his fourth entry, he reminds us that in space no one can hear you scream!
'Cause there's no air and if you try you'll explode.
There is definitely something eerie about the thought of something, somewhere lurking in the darkness and "in space, no one can hear you scream" is probably one of the most unsettling horror tag lines of all time. Before James Cameron came along and pumped it up with action and testosterone, Ridley Scott started it all off as a terrifying example of what goes bump in the night, or space. I rarely revisit this movie because it actually does frighten me, growing up I was always terrified of the alien creature and constantly imagined it was waiting for me in the darkness but I'm all grown up now and can handle it! Right? This is one of the true horror greats and one that demands to be viewed with all of the lights off.

Awesome movie!
ReplyDeleteYeah, time for a revisit me thinks! Bellamy has concocted a solid lineup of terror flicks!
ReplyDeleteJust a revisit? I think an "Aliens" night is in order- with the complete series! I'm planning on watching all the "Omen" movies (including the remake) this weekend and reviewing them! :D
ReplyDeleteI will try to clear a time in my calendar in 2012 :)
