If you've ever wanted to feel paranoid about moving into a new apartment, 1BR is the movie for you.
It takes that very relatable experience and turns it on its heads in a fairly unexpected way. And while I liked this movie and its concept, it wasn't perfect.
Let's start with the main character. She's played pretty well by Nicole Brydon Bloom, and is fairly likeable, but is a bit too generic for my liking. Also, here she's got terrible survival instincts and fails to make the obvious decisions everyone would make.
I'm also not totally sold on the apartment dwellers. I'm not going to spoil anything, but I didn't believe them being so cheery about their experience. If their time in the apartment is anything like the main character's, I'd expect them to be just as "depressed" as her.
However, despite my gripes, this is still a solid thriller. Give it a watch and see if you can predict where the story goes. This one's a Good.
