I have a love of mythology from around the word- and stories that deal with the mythological beings in them.  This week, let me take you back to the time of Ancient Greece... a time of the Minotaur... Thea watched their torch-bearing captors recede into the distance and leave them to the cave's darkness.  Her brother Icarus whispered, "Forgive me- I wanted to come to the Country of the Beasts, not to the Cave of the Minotaur." Marcus Flor here. Recently the monster known as Siren Head has grown into popularity online. He is tall, anemic and, as you'd expect, has a siren instead of a head. With the public's growing fascination in him, I'm wondering if he might become the next Slender Man? But what really decides that; what makes a horror icon? There are all kinds of unique creatures created online every day? What makes one become an icon? It's a mixture of things, really. I think the core of this cocktail is the theme behind it. How does a monster take your primal fears and represent them in a simple and effective way? Siren Head does it through, what else, his siren. Sirens never sound for something good; they always signal impending doom. When you hear that long, droning call, it could be a nuke, a tornado, or now an ungodly abomination that will rip you limb from limb.
