No vacation for you!

This was the week we in The Basement decided to take off. It's spring break in Canada, so it seemed like the best time for some well-deserved R and R. Looks like COVID-19 had other plans... Given the state of world affairs, Shawn, Mike S, Marcus Flor and I decided to get back at it earlier than planned. People need a reprieve from all the doom and gloom out there. If ever there was a time for mindless entertainment, this is it. And we intend to provide it for you. We've already posted a couple of articles today, and will continue to produce two to three on weekdays as per our usual schedule. New episodes of From The Basement resume on Radio NL 610 AM Kamloops starting Friday, March 27, as planned. The podcast -- and any related reviews -- appear on the Saturday. This is what we're here for, what we're trained for, and we hope we can provide a little fun and amusement during these trying times. Stick with us; we're sticking with you!

A vacation... From The Basement

Good morning all. Despite the threat of a global pandemic, it's Spring Break here in Canada, and we in The Basement are taking the week off. No, we're not self isolating ourselves, nor have we been quarantined -- at least not yet. It's just time for a quick break to recharge the batteries and spend time with family. Mike S might continue with his posts, but he's been told to take a break too. There will be no new episode this Friday on the mighty Radio NL 610 AM Kamloops, which also means no podcast on Saturday. Our next, all-new episode, broadcasts Friday, March 27. Regular posts resume Monday, March 23. This, of course, depends on what happens regarding COVID-19 in the meantime. We thank everyone for your ongoing support, and look forward to entertaining the duck out of you ASAP. Stick with us!

From The Basement: The Radio Show

So, remember back like nine years ago when we had our own show on campus radio? Well, it's funny how life comes full circle. The Broadcasting Gods have spoken, and we're destined for prime time once again. That's right, From The Basement is a weekly radio show once more! Our new 30-minute program (well, 22 minutes with ads) debuts Friday, Nov 8, on Radio NL 610 AM Kamloops, and we've got the coveted 6 p.m. spot. Shawn, Mike S and I stoked, to say the least. That's right, we kick things off in two weeks. Twwoooooo weeeeeeks to quote Total Recall. Nerds much? Yes. Aside from going the PG-13 route, not much will change in The Basement. We're still Jason and Shawn, and Mike S is still Mike S. And we're still talking all things entertainment, reviewing movies, interviewing people, and keeping you up to speed on all the stuff you're too lazy to Google yourself. The podcast will now debut Saturday mornings, with the first post-radio podcast premieri...

Shazam, Critters, and Us... oh my!

It's not a busy weekend at the movies, but it's certainly a big one... one that promises to chill audiences to the core. What movie could possibly be so fiendish as to strive to do such a thing? NL news director Shane Woodford joins Jason and Shawn this morning, and they'll let you know on the mighty Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show!

John Fallon's The Shelter is almost complete

Just a quick note on this gloomy Saturday morn to let Basementites know our bro John Fallon's flick The Shelter is almost done. As in 100-per-cent ready for the viewing public. The Shelter filmed in New Orleans in January and has been in post production -- editing, scoring, sound design, special effects etc since. Word has it from John himself that post should be complete by the end of October.
