Shawn versus The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Hello Basementites, Shawn here. I'm a big fan of superheroes. Next life, I'm gonna be one. This life, I love being the villain. Spider-Man is one of my favorite "heroes". In order (not that this means anything but) Superman, Hulk, Spider-Man. The big 3. So here we are, with a rebooted franchise. My HUGE nagging question is: WHY?  I mean, there are no leaps and bounds made in the CGI tech from the last set.  Which started in only 2002 and ended in 2007 Sure, Tobey is old now. But why reboot from the beginning. Just replace him and continue on. I made absolute fun of the last Maguire 3 and call them the Mary Jane movies. With a little Spidey in them. You could take all three of the Tobey Maguire Spidey movies, cut out most to ALL, of the Kirsten Dunst scenes and make one epic Spidey. (minus Venom casting, but we'll get into that later)

Some Super Bowl spots for your eye holes

Alright, the Super Bowl is over (Go Hawks), now it's time to catch the Big Game Spots for some of the year's most anticipated flicks. We've got Transformers: Age of Extinction, Captain America: The Winter Soldier , Need for Speed and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Personally, these spots sell me on almost all of the movies, even though I never saw the last Transformers nor The Amazing Spider-Man. Might have to rethink my thinking.

Trailer round up: The Expendables 2 and The Amazing Spider-Man

Alright, the day was just too big to promote one trailer, so The Basement brings you both of the big trailer premieres. Don't say we don't dig each and every last one of you, because we do. Granted, neither preview changes the game when it comes to our anticipation for each film. We in The Basement were already sold on The Expendables 2. No amount of awesome on display below changes that. Now, we just want to see it even more. This is kick ass, redefined. As for The Amazing Spider-Man? Sure, it's a nice trailer, and I love the character. But this is a rental for me. I had my fill with the Sam Raimi take, and I'm not plunking down $10 for more. But I know this is a movie I will watch and enjoy with my son when he's old enough. The Expendables 2 opens August 17. The Amazing Spider-Man hits July 3.
