New poster for John Fallon's The Shelter

Our bro John Fallon, The Arrow over at Arrow in the Head, is hard at work prepping his feature directorial debut The Shelter and managing the IndieGoGo campaign to get the flick made. And just 'cause that doesn't keep him busy enough, the man's drummed up a new poster for his movie too. Check it: Slick. Just slick. Simple. Creepy. Effective. The movie itself is two of those, and simple isn't one of them. Trust me. John wrote the screenplay for The Shelter and produces alongside long-time producing partner Donny Broussard and executive producer/actor Michael Pare ( The Lincoln Lawyer , Eddie and the Cruisers ) who will also be the lead in the film. VFX wiz Thomas Wilson ( James Wan ’s The Conjuring, Insidious : Chapter 2) will handle the visual effects. Need a refresher on what it's about? On a star filled night, widower and homeless man Thomas (Michael Pare) finds shelter for the night when he falls upon a vast two story house with the lights on and...

IndieGoGo campaign a go for John Fallon's The Shelter

Today will be a day long remembered as Bruise Productions and Bigfoot Productions announce the launch of their IndieGoGo campaign to help fund our bro John Fallon’s feature-length directorial debut The Shelter. You all know our boy John, he's The Arrow of Arrow in the Head, the star of Deaden and Dead Shadows and Billy Trigger himself. He's been on our show a couple of times too. John wrote the screenplay for The Shelter and will produce alongside long-time producing partner Donny Broussard and executive producer/actor Michael Pare ( The Lincoln Lawyer , Eddie and the Cruisers ) who will also be the lead in the film. VFX wiz Thomas Wilson ( James Wan ’s The Conjuring, Insidious : Chapter 2) will handle the visual effects. Here are Pare’s thoughts on the project: "The Shelter tells a great and painful tragedy. Not about global disaster or war or economic collapse but of the individual human heart . The human heart and soul is what all art seeks to unravel. Guilt, ...

John Fallon talks The Shelter

As regular readers and listeners know, our partner in cinema and crime -- and all-around good friend -- John Fallon makes his feature film directorial debut with The Shelter, which he also wrote. The flick stars veteran actor and genre fave Michael Paré and is scheduled to shoot in January.  Yours truly sat down with John to discuss the film. Below is a transcript of what he had to say. Tell me a bit about where the idea for The Shelter came from.   It was winter and I was walking back from a hockey game during a snow storm . I saw a homeless man sitting on the ground begging for change , he was obviously freezing. I felt bad for the guy, so I gave him a couple of bucks and kept walking. As I walked on, I started wondering how the man got to where he was now. Then I started inventing scenarios in my head about him trying to find shelter from the storm and what would happen if he did. Once I arrived home, I had a found an initial premise for a script and jo...

Michael Paré joins John Fallon's The Shelter

Way cool news reached The Basement today as our bro John Fallon's feature directorial debut , The Shelter , gained its leading man . Veteran actor Michael Paré ( The Lincoln Lawyer , The Virgin Suicides ) has officially been cast as the lead role of Thomas. John had this to say about Paré’s casting: “For my debut, I am trying to surround myself with people that I know and trust. And the same M.O. went for the lead role of Thomas. I needed an actor that I knew as a person on some level, had the chops to do the role justice and who would be an ally on set. Michael Paré was the first name on my list; in fact, I had him in mind when I wrote the script. He’s my kind of guy; straightforward, committed, intelligent and humble. He is also very talented. Elated to have him on-board!” Paré had this to say about the script: "I read John Fallon's script The Shelter and it tells a great and painful tragedy. Not about global disaster or war or economic collapse but o...

You might recognize the name of a dude he's hired to write one of the movies :) On a star filled night, widower and homeless man Thomas finds shelter for the night when he falls upon a vast two story house with the lights on and an inviting open front door. He strolls on in thinking he just caught a lucky break and for a while, it would appear that he did. Inside, there’s nobody in sight and he finds all of the comforts that he used to have.
