Jexi messages Gemini Man for The Addams Family

A trio of decidedly different films hit theatres today; an animated update of a TV classic, a smartphone-themed comedy, and an action flick starring Will Smith. Which one is right for you? That's the question From The Basement hopes to answer when they hit the Radio NL 610 AM Morning News at 8:20 this morning. So yeah, there's an animated version of The Addams Family coming out this weekend. It features the voices of Charlize Theron, Chloe Grace Moretz and Oscar Isaac. Could be a good Halloween watch for the kids. In the mood for action? How about Will Smith Vs. Will Smith? Then check out Gemini Man from Academy Award winning director Ang Lee. Yup, an action film from an acclaimed director. Kudos to him! And finally, there's Jexi, which is about a smartphone that becomes obsessed with its user. It's a comedy, by the way. Add the latest entertainment news and a rundown of what's worth watching at home and you've got the latest segment... From The Base...

Us, Triple Frontier and Flay

Only one big release in theatres, but still lots of all things entertainment to talk about. Not to mention an exclusive movie to review. That's what Jason and Shawn are up to during the next half hour. You get this morning's Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show segment featuring guest host Shane Woodford, and two more movie reviews for your ear holes. Not to mention a little (local) entertainment news as well. All for free, bitches!

Review: Triple Frontier

I was pretty pumped for Netflix's new flick Triple Frontier. Being a big fan of heist movies and man-on-a-mission movies, this seemed like the perfect blend of each genre, with a decent cast too. Circumstance prevented me from seeing Triple Frontier when it debuted a week and a half ago, but I caught up with this bad boy last night. Was the movie worth the wait, and the hype? Stick with me!

The House With A Clock In Its Walls and Life Itself

Shawn is back in The Basement, and just in time for the extended cut of Friday's segment on the Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show! What do Jason and Shawn get up to this episode? A whole bunch of stuff guaranteed to hit you right in your entertainment centre!

Life Itself has a clock in its walls

A kids' horror movie directed by Eli Roth and an inspiring story about our place in the universe? So sums up this week's two big movie releases. Which means it's Friday, and time for Jason to join Howie Reimer on the Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show!

Jason verus Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Thirty two years is a long time wait between Star Wars movies. Sure, there're the prequels, but really. Do they count? Not to me. For me, the Star Wars saga went on hiatus in 1983 and didn't pick up until just a few short weeks ago. Thirty two years. A long wait. Was it worth it? Stick with me!

Cast announced for Star Wars Episode VII

There was speculation that J.J. Abrams and company would unveil the cast of Star Wars Episode VII on May 4, that being May the 4th Be With You day or something like that. But that was not the case, as the names were dropped today. Are you ready for it? It's a mix of fresh and old faces. Some of them very old. Wink, wink. Nudge, nudge.
