Another Mischief Night movie headed our way

No, this isn't a sequel to the Mischief Night we reviewed earlier this year . It is in fact the same Mischief Night mentioned on this site before we even knew about the Mischief Night that stars the brother of the guy who starred in Sliders. Travis Baker's flick will finally see the light of the day via After Dark Originals, which is part of Lionsgate yo, who unleashed a new trailer today. And we have it for yah.

Suzanne Cappelletti versus Excision

The Basement welcome's it's latest contributor, Suzanne Cappelletti, as she shares her two bits on the 2012 horror flick Excision . Enjoy! Excision is the story of an outcast teenager who has an unhealthy obsession with blood and aspirations of being a doctor. Pauline is an outcast at school and so socially awkward it's painful. She is always trying to please her overbearing mother (played perfectly by Traci Lords ). As the movie builds, and we see the black cloud hanging over the family, the younger (prettier) daughter who has cystic fibrosis is in need of a transplant. The father is the doormat. He tries to keep the peace but is pushed around. As Pauline begins to unravel, getting expelled from school and studying surgical procedures in her off time to potentially save her sisters life, we see a transformation. She becomes more and more delusional. This is a great debut from director Richard Bates . He takes what could be a crazy ugly duck...

Basement fave Silent Night headed to theatres

Last year at about this time Shawn and I were introduced to the work of director Steven C. Miller . And what an introduction it was! Silent Night, Steven's loose remake of Silent Night, Deadly Night , is a lean, mean slasher machine that did what all good remakes should -- it took the idea of a killer Santa Claus and ran with it. And boy did it run far. Silent Night will get regular seasonal play alongside the classic Black Christmas . We didn't catch Silent Night in theatres during its original run. However, lucky Basementites south of the border -- that means you, U.S.A. -- get another chance as the flick begins screening in theatres on Dec. 18. Exact theatres and dates are still being sorted out, but Sacramento, Buffalo and New Orleans are on the list. For the uninitiated, the police force of a remote Midwestern town search for a killer Santa Claus who is picking off citizens on Christmas Eve. It's up to Jaime King and Malcolm McDowell to stop him. If yo...

This Silent Night clip offers body parts and Jaime King

All things considered, that's not a bad combination if you're a horror fan. We dig our gore and our hotties, and this clip covers 'em both. Awesome! King plays a cop out to stop a murderous Santa Claus who is picking off residents in a small town on Christmas Eve. In this scene, she tracks a ringing cell phone to a gruesome crime scene. Directed by Steven C. Miller, Silent Night also stars Malcolm McDowell, Brendan Fehr, Ellen Wong and Donal Logue. The flick hits theatres Nov. 30 and DVD/Blu-Ray on Dec. 4. Thanks to the folks at Arrow in the Head for this clip.

Santa Claus has a bad attitude in this Silent Night trailer

It's been months since we've told you anything about the upcoming Christmas-themed horror flick Silent Night, which is rumoured to be a remake of sorts of the 1980s non-classic Silent Night, Deadly Night. Ish. Having watched the trailer below, I can safely say I'll give this a look, hopefully in time for a review on the show pre-Christmas break. It's got murders, hot chicks, Santa Claus with a flamethrower, Malcolm McDowell AND genre hottie Jaimie King. What's not to like? The plot, if you please: the police force of a remote Midwestern town search for a killer Santa Claus who is picking off citizens on Christmas Eve. King and McDowell are said police force. Ellen Wong, Brendan Fehr, and Donal Logue also star. Anchor Bay has picked up Steven C. Miller's film, which is due to hit theatres on Nov. 30.
