A lot going on in The Days God Slept

Talented up-and-coming director Jeremiah Kipp sent another one of his short flicks The Basement's way. Would someone give this cat a feature film already? Decidedly different than Baggage , The Days God Slept is an experimental film filled with beautiful imagery and a wonderful score by THE Harry Manfredini . That's right, the same Harry Manfredini who scored Friday the 13th and was interviewed on our show. The Days God Slept is best described as a cinematic prayer that deals with love and secrets; faith and acceptance. The story, near as I can tell -- I can be thick, I tells yah -- is Kristy has a secret to tell John. When she does, will their burgeoning ties of affection be strengthened or severed? Or will they find that the hardest thing to accept might be oneself? Given that most of the flick takes place in a strip club , The Days God Slept is filled with sex and boobies, which we're all for here in The Basement. While this sounds exploitative, it's no...

Scream queen contest winner comes with Baggage

Y'all remember Jeremiah Kipp, he who won our Win A Chat with a Scream Queen contest back in Season Three and made the exceptional short flick Crestfallen? Well, he's back! I just had the pleasure of watching Jeremiah's latest short, Baggage -- a groovy 14-minute throwback to the tales found on Alfred Hitchcock Presents, only bloodier and a titch more disturbing. Rob Dimension plays Benjamin, a normal guy trying to live his life and fit into society. We get to spend one day with Benjamin, and witness how his simple existence unfolds with unsettling results. Dimension is great as Benjamin, and Jeremiah once again shows he's an accomplished filmmaker. Baggage is more of a straight-up genre piece than Crestfallen, and plays within the conventions of what we expect. It's expertly made. As with any good Hitchcock tale, nothing is quite as it seems. I figured out the twist right away, but was still pulled along for the ride. And yeah, the last shot got me. Got ...

Get your world rocked with Crestfallen

Jeremiah Kipp and Harry Manfredini should be household names for Basement Dwellers. OK, any horror fan worth his or her salt knows who Harry Manfredini is. As for Jeremiah Kipp, he's the winner of our Win Our Chat With A Scream Queen contest and an accomplished filmmaker in his own right, having made the horror film The Sadist with Tom Savini. Jeremiah's latest effort, the short Crestfallen, became available online today and we've got it for you below. It's a knockout too, with beautiful imagery care of Dominic Sivilli and a great score by Harry. The film, which stars Deneen Melody, is deep, something to be seen and digested a couple of times. And there's not a word of dialogue in the whole thing. I dig it, a lot! I'm going to shut up now and let you all give Crestfallen a watch. I look forward to seeing what Jeremiah does next!
